We spent the morning exploring the bays south of Kaiteriteri and were delighted to come upon Tapu Bay. We were welcomed by very friendly dogs and their owners at the grass car park, then we were delighted to see an array of kayaks and paddle boards all set out for anyone to use and return when they're done. Certainly a first for me to see that at any beach. Thank you to the residents who have worked to arrange this for all the beach lovers. We kept heading south for about an hour at high tide, exploring all the caves, tunnels, and a unique little island with a hole through the middle. We highly recommend spending some time at this great bay.

Look for the Tapu Bay Reserve signpost and you can drive down to the beach where there's plenty of parking. Tidal bay which means it's a lot quieter but definitely worth going at high tide for swimming. Nice to walk around the rock arches that are forming. Has had some issues this summer with water contamination, so no sea food gathering and pay to research if there's any current health warnings.

Lovely Tasman district. So much to do and see. Beaches, markets, galleries and fresh produce stalls. Never fails to be a lovely place to visit.
