The best beach on the island for two reasons. First, it has nudists. Now, before you take that the wrong way and think me some kind of pervert, let me explain. Nudists can put people off, especially if you walk around the rocks to find a sixty year old man bending over and winking at you with a brown eye. Because of this, the beach tends to be quieter, even in summer and so you can generally find a spot. Secondly, the shape of the beach means it is largely protected from the wind on both sides so pitching a tent (so to speak), eating a sausage (again, no pun intended) or going for a paddle (not a spanking paddle) is risk free. It is mildly nudist beach in the early morning but quite normal during the rest of the day. This channel leads to Great Barrier Island. The mornings are quiet and calm.
