My friend and I recently did the Cascade Kauri Track, and it was absolutely breathtaking! The lush forest, towering kauri trees, and peaceful streams made it feel like stepping into another world. The well-maintained path was easy to follow (great for all fitness levels), and we loved the educational signs about the ecology and history of the area. Highlights: 🌿 Magical vibes – The sunlight filtering through the ancient trees was straight out of a fairy tale. 🚶 Perfect length – Took us about 1.5 hours at a relaxed pace, with plenty of photo stops. 💦 Small cascades – The little waterfalls along the way added such a serene touch. Only note: Wear good shoes (some parts can be muddy after rain), and don’t forget insect repellent! Highly recommend for nature lovers, couples, or friends wanting a rejuvenating escape. We left feeling so refreshed—will definitely be back! #CascadeKauri #HiddenGemNZ #NatureTherapy

Great walk with wide track and lovely scenery. Kids friendly as my kids 11 & 10 walk the whole 10km loop. Very interesting to also be up close and personal with the water dam, very nice scenery on top. Parking is an issue on Matariki Friday, be sure to come early or have to park far away. Bonus is nice toilets are the carpark, and also there are toilets on top of the dam. Short drive from urban areas is a big plus Great half or full day with the family. Highly recommended!

Had a just a couple of days in Auckland and did this walk having noted the good reviews. It was a treat. The paths throughout are in excellent condition and hats off to the teams who have worked on creating those steps and boardwalks; they are awesome. Did the route anticlockwise as recommended and would agree its the best way round, particularly as it means you enjoy the riverside section at the end. I'm mindful we did this in 26° in Feb so it was an effort, but anyway this walk shouldn't be underestimated; there's plenty of ascent and descent. That said, much is in shade. The delight on this walk is the immersion in such fine forest, and the kauri trees are wonderful. It reminded me of a poster I had years ago: 'Today I have grown taller from walking...
