Otaki Beach — Attraction in Wellington

Excellent beach and river mouth especially for what I was there for, which was collecting rocks and stones plus nice pieces of heavy, smooth and native driftwood. Appears to be a great fishing beach from the large numbers of surf casting fishermen plus some with torpedoes and the like taking their lines a long way of shore. Not sure how safe the beach is for swimming but there is a surf life saving area futher along the beach from the river mouth, which is obviously the best and safest place to swim. Great spot to...

In 2019, a lot of travelers/tourists frequented this area which made it a common location of littering. It wasn't as bad north of Otaki Beach toward Moana street but it is unfortunate travelling from Kapiti with their cleaner beaches.
