The Anglican church, standing majestically amidst the bustling heart of Lagos, exemplifies an extraordinary fusion of Gothic Revival architecture and the deep-rooted Christian heritage of the region.

The first striking aspect upon approaching the Cathedral is its awe-inspiring scale and meticulous architectural detailing. The Cathedral Church of Christ Marina, Lagos is an Anglican cathedral in Lagos and is one of the most beautiful church structures in Lagos and Nigeria located in Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria. you might just be tempted to visit and have the church as a background in your images because of it's unique beauty.

It is popularly known as the Cathedral Church of Christ Marina and it is the oldest Anglican cathedral in the Church of Nigeria. At various times in its history, the cathedral was the seat of the archbishop of the Province of West Africa, the seat of the archbishop and primate of All Nigeria and the seat of the archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos. It is currently the seat of the Bishop of Lagos.

The foundation stone for the first cathedral building was laid on 29 March 1867 and the cathedral was established in 1869. Construction of the current building to designs by architect Bagan Benjamin started on 1 November 1924. It was built with mud and that could accommodate 300 people. In 1867 the foundation of Stone was laid for Christ Church Cathedral, A brick build for 400 people. It was dedicated in 1869.
