I recently visited the National Theatre, an iconic venue renowned for its architectural significance. While the building itself is a captivating piece of design, my experience warrants a three-star rating due to the current state of disarray caused by ongoing renovations.

The National Theatre's architectural charm is undeniable, with its unique features standing out in the urban landscape. However, the current environment fails to showcase this brilliance adequately. The ongoing renovations seem to have disrupted the harmony of the venue, leaving it in a state of flux. The disarray makes it challenging to appreciate the architectural nuances that would otherwise be a highlight.

One major drawback during my visit was the lack of clear signages, turning what should have been an exploration into a navigational challenge. The absence of proper directions made it difficult to find entrances, specific areas, or even amenities within the premises. This oversight significantly impacted the overall visitor experience, leaving me somewhat frustrated and disoriented.

Despite these drawbacks, it's crucial to note that the National Theatre's new aesthetic is promising. The building boasts a sharp, modern look that hints at the potential grandeur once renovations are completed. The architectural upgrades are evident, promising a future where the venue seamlessly marries its historical significance with contemporary design.

In conclusion, my three-star rating reflects the current state of the National Theatre marred by ongoing renovations. However, the potential for a five-star experience is evident in the promising aesthetics of the refurbished building. Once the renovations are completed and the venue is restored to its full glory, I am optimistic that the National Theatre will reclaim its status as a top-notch cultural destination. I eagerly await the day when the National Theatre's brilliance shines unobstructed, earning it the full five stars it...

This is quite candidly the most understated and underrated creative facility in town. Obviously due to our uncanny predilection for not keeping things in top conditions. How do you explain a purpose built facility for the promotion of, indeed hosted the first black festival of arts, culture and creativity not being optimally utilised? To be perfectly honest, it is a shame that a signature property like this is allowed to remain in this poor shape with its huge potential not being tapped. It has great amenities to host events of any kind yet because of poor management systems, some of those amenities are either disused or can't be used because it is not in pristine tenantable conditions. It has to be said that a few attempts have been made to give it appropriate facelift but more still need to be done to clean up the surrounding infrastructure: road, cross bridge, box office, etc. I hope this institution will be transferred to a capable management that can transform it to world class tourist centre where it can come alive to occupy its pride of place in driving fun, tourism and...

There are cafes, restaurants and bars where you can buy food and drink, a bookshop, and free things to enjoy, including exhibitions and the chance to see behind the scenes with the Backstage Walkway.

The National Theatre is an architectural masterpiece and a cultural landmark located at Iganmu, in the heart of Lagos. It is easily accessible from every corner of the city. Covering an area of about 23,000 square meters and standing well over 30 meters tall, the multipurpose National Theatre was established for the preservation, presentation and promotion of Arts and Culture in Nigeria. The design for the existing National Theatre in Lagos was taken from the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria. The contract for its construction was signed on April 24, 1973, during Gen. Yakubu Gowon’s regime. Apart from providing a befitting venue for the 2nd World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC 77) which Nigeria successfully hosted in January/February 1977 and for which the National Theatre provided more than adequate venues. Today it’s nice place to go with families where you can watch plays and the place is so conducive making everyone feel alive. They have different event hall for any kind of event all fully air-conditioned and neat.
