It’s an old building in Abeokuta, where the parents of Fela Lived. The building has been standing for over a century now. It just displays the lives of the family generally . From the paternal grandfather of Fela to his maternal grandmother. The whole family is also carefully displayed from the 1st Generation to the 3rd Generation where you’ll find the likes of Seun KUTI, who’s on instagram as BigbirdKuti . You’ll find one of the cars of madam Funmilayo Ransome KUTI ,a Volvo car , recall that she was the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria. She headed the Abeokuta women’s club where she was able to banish the Alake from Egbaland due to his over taxation policies on the women .

The first family heads are Reverends in Anglicans Church and they are musicians. They helped in converting most of the Anglican hymn from English Language to Yoruba language . Again , they wrote the...

I honestly couldnt believe i didnt have this place on my radar but thankfully the cab driver pointed it out as we were returing from visiting Olumo rock.

The museum was open April this year. It shows the family home of Fela Kuti, his siblings and his parents. Whilst I didnt know much about the family before then I was quite suprised to find out that Funmilayo Anikulapo-Kuti Fela's mom was the first woman to drive a car in nigeria.

The museum gives an introduction to family tree and achievements of one of the notable and important families in Nigeria. So all Fela Kuti fans out there this is definitely a must see.

All interested in history and women that have played a part in shaping their communities this is a must see when in the westen part of nigeria.

This place also houses a bar and resturant...

This is the home of the legendary Afro beat musician: Fela Anikulapo Kuti. His father was an Anglican Priest from Egba Anglican Diocese. His father was at a time the principal of the foremost secondary school in the ancient city of Abeokuta: Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi Aba, Abeokuta. This same home had people like the Prof. Olikoye Ransome Kuti, Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti. These are people that made names in the medical profession. The Kuti heritage Museum deserves not only a national recognition, it should be recognized worldwide, not only as a museum, but also as a tourist center. It should be accessible from every area and backed up with good...

I went to my hometown Abeokuta, for the Eid holiday.Whilst deliberating on where to hangout,a friend of mine informed me about The Kuti Heritage Museum;then I decided to go visiting in the company of my friends. It is the monumental home of the Ransome-Kutis of Abeokuta. The historical edifice was given a facelift by the Ogun State government, then converted into a Museum some years back,in honour of the Kuti family and also to preserve their legacy. After touring the building, there's a garden at the backyard where you can have drinks and grill with your friends and family in a very serene and low-noise setting.

The museum was named after the famous Kuti family in NEPA Road, Abeokuta. It is the house where the matriarch of the family, Funmilayo Ransome Kuti who was also the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria. The house contains pictures of the life history of the family and the old house was maintained. The house was built with wood and the wood is maintained by the Ogun state government. The house looks clean and well maintained. Though the day I went there, there was no one there so we could not have a guide to show around. It's really a place people should see as part of Nigeria's history.
