Truthfully my little guys LOVED the zoo. They had a complete blast seeing the animals that were there as well as the play ground in the middle.

Being accustomed to Zoos from the US it was a bit of a concern and also pretty cool how close you could get to the cages of the animals. We did have to remind our oldest (3.5 yrs old) to keep his hands out of the animals "homes".

Entering the zoo was a bit difficult. We didn't know where the entrance was and somehow ended up going in through an employee entrance.

The employee who found us after about 15 minutes of walking let us pay and leave our car where it was.

Overall, worth the visit with little kiddos as they are just happy to see the animals. Especially as there is a variety of animals to see; bear, lion & lioness, hippopotamus, birds, tiger, kangaroos, goats, rams, sheep, goats, lamas, bunnies, chickens, ostriches, emus, horses, lemurs and more.

Visiting as a foreigner, just keep expectations from other experiences with Zoos far from the forefront...

I love animals. I used to love the zoo as a child. But, now I don't. I've been here recently, and I am very disappointed. The animals were tired, most of them weren't there from the last time I've been to the zoo. The atmosphere was kinda tragic, we were the only people visiting at the time which is not too bad, but that sometimes speaks for the place itself.

However, there were good things, too. For example I love the old, traditional house on the middle of the zoo. It is amazing for making pictures and resting before going in again to see the animals. I love the children's place with all the fun activities that can be done there.

I can remember that the dog shelter was there too previously, but I don't think I saw...

The zoo plays a significant role in the sphere of social living, especially in the sector of education as well as the protection of certain animal species. Ever since its establishment as an institution in 1950, the zoo has been constantly improving the conditions in order to meet European standards, but these standards have not yet been met. In 2004, a number of activities have started, aimed at improving the conditions in which the animals live and raising the educational...

Would give 0 stars if i could. Its important to remember some countries have less animal welfare standards then others, sadly even to those standards this is very upsetting. The lack of animals in enclosures is concerning. The animals they do have where scared of humans and panicked at the slightest of sounds. The enclosures floors where 80% feaces. The hippos had no electric fence and some animals where roaming free. Enclosures had no educational boards. Would not recommend even though it is free i would save your self the stress

The worst zoo I have ever seen. An example of animal abuse. They live in terrible conditions without access to water or food. Horses have parasites, wolf has no fur, bear has to eat grass out of his cage not to starve, monkeys even ate their own feces and drink their own urine. This place is a shame of town Bitola and should be closed immediately.
