Nestled atop Mount Vodno, Krstovar peak offers a unique blend of spiritual significance and panoramic views. Crowned by the Millennium Cross, a colossal structure erected in 1999, this location is a testament to both faith and ambition. Back then, the cross claimed the title of the largest on the Macedonian peninsula, a beacon visible for miles across the Skopje valley. To reach this elevated vantage point, you can take the žičara од Средно Водно до Milenium Cross, a cable car that gracefully ascends the mountainside. Operating every day except Mondays and the last Tuesday of each month, this ride offers a smooth and scenic journey. While plans for a second cable car stage directly from Skopje to Средно Водно remain unrealized, the existing segment is a popular and convenient access point. Upon reaching the peak, you'll find yourself at an altitude of approximately 1066 meters (3,497 feet) above sea level. From this height, the sprawling cityscape of Skopje unfolds beneath you, framed by the surrounding mountains. Currently, construction is underway for a new antenna tower, adding another element to the mountaintop landscape. While both the Millennium Cross and the new antenna tower projects have included plans for restaurants, these envisioned eateries are not yet open to the public. Despite the absence of dining facilities, the journey to Krstovar and the breathtaking views from its peak are rewarding in themselves. The sheer scale of the Millennium Cross, combined with the natural beauty of Mount Vodno, creates a memorable experience, offering a peaceful escape and a chance to contemplate the vista from this...

As a landmark, the cross has turned into a tourist destination with the best observation point to see the panorama of the capital city.
The monument is based on a grid design, similar to the French Eiffel Tower and has the traditional shape of a Christian cross without other additions or elements. Read moreI absolutely loved this place. The hike up the mountain is very relaxing and before you know it you’re at the top. You can ride you bike or choose to walk depending on your preference. You can also take a cable car to the top, but in my opinion that takes the fun away from the visit. I like to hike up and then take the cable car on my way down. At the top you will find the infamous cross which can be seen from kilometers away both in the day and in the night. There is a cafe and tables to sit at and relax after your long hike, and to sit down and enjoy the views. The views at this place are amazing, truly breathtaking. You can see the whole city and even point out famous structures such as the stadium. The air is much better than down in the city and it really helps you ease down and relax. The whole place is very picturesque from the cross to the views. I definitely recommend visiting this place and putting it down as one of your top destinations to visit...
