A must-see when visiting Krusevo! I arrived around 11 AM on a Sunday and was a bit surprised to find the monument closed, even though it was supposed to be open. I walked around and later asked at the nearby information desk. Turns out the staff member was just on a breakfast break and opened it right away after I asked. Lucky me!

The visit was one of the highlights of my trip. The man at the entrance (sorry forgot his name!) was so nice and took the time to explain every little detail of the Makedonium. From how it was built, what each symbol means to the powerful history behind it. I paid only 50 denars (local price), even though the standard fee is 150. Totally worth it either way!

There are also plenty of information boards in English, which made it easy to follow along and understand Macedonia’s struggle for independence and identity. The design of the monument is so unique and full of symbolism. It really left an impression on me.

Despite the rainy weather, my visit was truly unforgettable, and I must say it was all thanks to the outstanding tour guide we had. Although his name escapes me, he was undoubtedly one of the best guides I have ever had the pleasure of encountering.

From the moment we met him, he exuded warmth and hospitality, making us feel welcome and at ease. His storytelling was truly magical; he had a gift for weaving together historical facts and anecdotes that left me spellbound.
