A lovely little museum in the heart of Hamar! Visiting the Kirsten Flagstad museum is a great way to spend an hour learning about one of Hamar and Norway's most famous daughters. The museum is located in the house that Kirsten Flagstad was born, which gives you a great sense of her early life and upbringing. The real treasure of the museum, though, has to be the collection of Kirsten's costumes and jewelry from some of the many roles she filled on stage. Some of those dresses are absolutely to die for! I love this artist's singing but was drawn much closer to the roots of her musicality and talent in Hamar which led on to her domination in this area of performance. The museum is small but occupied me for 3 hours in discussion with the resident curator. Anniken knew so much about her subject and revealed much new and recent scholarship about Kerstin Flagsad that left the place even more in awe or the singer but also how special this museum is and being developed under Anniken's care and enthusiasm.
