Today my husband and I did the Setergrotta tour with the British guide! We both highly recommend this tour. Don’t miss it!! So why? - first of all the guide was really a very pleasant person who is so at ease in the cave that my own scared feelings went away. He has a lot of funny/factual and interesting info the tell about the cave. I’ve learnt a lot new things! Did you know that the Norwegian Montessori’s school let there kids sleep in the cave as a project (of course with adults/ a guide and with a group..? ) and there is more but you have to go for yourself to hear is 😀 - The cave it self is beautiful! And very versatile and interesting. - I had a lot of fun climbing, crawling. One time I was crawling on this very very soft sand. And it went really smooth (I was suprised myself thinking ow ‘baby - modus’ is still working’. Later I discovered that is was downhill crawling in the cave I’ve never done that before 🤣) - So before you may think I’m not fit enough let me explain a bit. You don’t need a sixpack a marathon condition/stamina. If you are healthy, you can crawl, swat, and you feel comfy stepping on different stones, clime 1 ladder and do a bit of climbing, you can easily run a few stairs. I think you are fit enough. In the cave you move mindfull and after an active bit you the guide has a nice story to tell about something in the cave you can sit our stand and rest if needed. 🙂 Please get yourself a good pair of hiking shoes for grip and support of your ankles. You’ll get an overall gloves kneepads and a helmed with a light. I could see quite good once my eyes were used to the light. And I didn’t hurt myself. (I can be clumsy from time to time) And lastly please do this with an experienced guide!!

This was a real cabin experience! You won't just go on an easy walk through a cave, but you really get muddy, have to climb, rob on the ground, push&pull yourself through narrow paths... so while - in the beginning- it feels rather cold in there, you'll soon be warmed up properly. We had steve as our guide - and what he lacks in norwegian language he makes more than up in terms of knowledge, experience (30+years!!!) & positive attitude. So, if you read this, thanks :) Overall: great experience, absolutely worth it! So do it (unless you fear narrowness or are not at all fit ;))

Lovely tour with a large and interesting cavesystem. Very nice guide too! We were only two people and we would have liked to have rented a stronger headlamp when there are so few in the group (we would have been fine with paying a bit extra for that).

If you are ten or more then strong headlamps would be blinding and annoying, but when only two it was hard to see everything and we had to rely on the guide using their headlamp so we could see and not stumble.

So lovely and fun! But would be nice with better lamp options...
