It was built as a Norwegian stave style church and it is said to be the model in the Disney film frozen. A must visit if you are in the area.

Erbaut im Stil einer norwegischen Stabkirche. Ihre Fertigstellung erfolgte im Jahr 1897. Geweiht ist die Kirche dem heiligen Olav II. Haraldsson. Es handelt sich um eine anglikanische Kirche. Diese wurde hier errichtet zum Gedenken an die englische Bergsteigerin Margaret Sophia Green Kvikne. Sie heiratete in Balestrand und verstarb hier an Tuberkulose. Von der Kirche aus hat man einen sehr schönen Blick über den Fjord. Im Inneren der Kirche sind besonders sehenswert: der Altar, die Buntglasfenster und der Chor.

The church is part of the Church of England and is open during the summer months. The church is a short walk from the Kvikne Hotel and it's history is tied to the Kvikne family. The church has a stave design and stained glass. It's free to visit although they do ask for voluntary donations to continue with restoration and to keep open. Worth stopping in...

Loved it. Peaceful. Can stay long time praying. There is a guest book to write your names as u visited. Also can write a note of ur wish and keep in a basket placed beside the guest book then they will pray on...
