A beautiful area with interesting history, nature and border Norway-Russia. The old Church was built as a landmark in the second half of the 1800s so that fishermen could recognise they were in Norway (protestant church). The church itself has many fascinating details.

The area, long stunning sand beaches, rocks and hills which adds to the dramatic feeling at this very beautiful natural place. The border is divided by the sea and various coloured pillars at the two land sides. Old fishermen/nature rangers/ modern “hytte” (cabin) houses spread out over area.

A MUST visit place if in the Kirkenes area! On a sunny and warm day why not enjoy the beach, can hike on the trails and hills behind the sea (amazing views) and also good for mountain biking or just a frisk...

60km from nearest town of Kirkenes and right on mist easterly point of Norway on Barants sea and next to Russia border. Road goes from normal tarred road at Skogsberg to dirt track once you near Russian border. Road surface damaged and rough in places but compleyely doable in normal car. Absolutely beautiful fjords and lakes with cliffs en route. Unfortunately cloud once you get near the sea with temperatures dropping by 10C. Water temperature...

Boarder post's on both sides can be seen, monitored by a friendly Norwegian army patrol, who waved as we passed, as they were coming out of the tree's ,at the end of the road,a good place to park and look over the at the military observation posts while having a break , a narrow but...

Take swimwear and a towel! How often do you get to say you’ve swam in the Barent Sea?! Who cares if it is not warm water. This was a gem of a find. There is also a volleyball net. Could only hope for some ice cream sales there too. Granted they don’t have a long season here..
