Historical but newly renovated stone church opened by King Oscar II in 1873. Perched on a hill and facing the Barents Sea, this attraction has an amazing scenery. Great rest stop. Parking & toilets close by. Can get cold and very windy even in Summer.

The Chapel was closed when we visited early July 2024 but that was expected. Otherwise beautifully restored chapel from the time when Sweden and Norway were united as one kingdom.

awesome little place! this and the cemetery are really what makes up the whole town as temperatures can get pretty crazy here so people have a short and pious life. got married here to my cousin Jesse during the one day of summer. It was not hard to find a wedding sweaterdress for my bride because it is a common outfit for people in this stage of life in the area. we honeymooned just across the border in seal resort. it was slippery and smelled a bit fishy but i can't complain. the desserts were the opposite of good as i am not much into lard. but totally would recommend if you like fermented sharks and year-old stuffed...

The last 13kms are a gravel track. The Norwegian military has paranoic signs everywhere telling you not to breath in case it's misinterpreted as a declaration of war. But the Chapel's setting is 'other-worldly'. Sadly it was locked after I'd driven 4,800kms to visit it. I'll call...

We did a road trip from Finland to here, the scenery along the way was amazing. The road was in pretty rough shape but our Land cruiser made easy work of it. The church and sarounding area were nice. Drove the little way to the Arctic ocean. Can highly recommend this place to...
