We've stayed in the camping for 4 nights and rented a 1-bedroom cabin, with 3 sleeping places. Pros: The cabin is clean, recently renovated. The furniture is in the good condition, the new kitchen with everything you need for cooking, a good size fridge, a microwave, good WiFi, a TV with USB and HDMI inputs. The house has a terrace where you can have your breakfast, there's also a small barbecue and the most important, an incredible view of Geiranger fjord. The cabin has a basic electric heater, which you can turn on when needed. Hot water is available anytime. Though the cabins are located close to each other, you have full autonomy and privacy. You can rent bedding sheets if needed and pay for the cleaning or clean the cabin yourself to save money. The cost of this camp is also an advantage. With very good cabin conditions and such a location, prices were lower than other camps in Geiranger. The camp is located uphill, so most suitable if you travel by car.
The cons: The bathroom is clean, but not very comfortably designed. Only a curtain separates the shower from the toilet, hence when you're taking the shower, the floor and the rest of the bathroom get wet. It then feels quite humid there, hence not very comfortable. The beds are narrow, the mattresses, pillows, and bedding are dated and uncomfortable. Though the camping is located uphill giving you an incredible view of the fjord, this side of the town almost doesn't get sun, hence it constantly feels dim, and, as a result, humid.
Conclusion: This is a well-maintained, renovated camp. An incredible view, convenient location, and moderate price make it a good value for money. However, I wouldn't recommend staying here too long. Not the most comfortable beds and shower room (in small cabins) do not dispose to a longer stay. It is very good though if you plan to stop by for a night or two. My recommendation to the management is to continue with the update of the mattresses and...
Read moreWe drove into Geiranger on our three week road trip and were surprised at how expensive all the hotels were. We drove by and looked at them all and decided to drive back a little way up the hill and ask about some cabins we'd seen. That was a VERY good idea. We found Fossen Camping and got a beautifully equipped, spotless cabin for a fair price (1290NK/£120) compared to the hotels and the most spectacular view.||||We were in Cabin 14 which had an amazing view down Geiranger Fjord. We didn't get there until almost 10pm but because it was June it was still daylight and the view of the fjord was amazing. We sat on the spacious deck until it went quite dark enjoying our amazing view.||||The cabin had two bedrooms - one with two single beds side by side and one with two bunk beds. The kitchen area was very well equipped and there was a very nice seating area with sofa, two chairs and coffee table. A very clean, good bathroom too. It all felt very new.||||We weren't used to the idea of cabins but had taken camping gear in case we camped. This was good as you do need sleeping bags or sheets/duvet if you stay in a cabin. Also your own towels.||||Another bonus of this cabin was that our car was right next to it. we were finding that we were often parked quite a little way from the room in hotels which was a pain as we had a lot of stuff as we were on a road trip.||||If ever we get back to Geiranger we are definitely staying in this cabin again - it...
Read moreOne of the best locations in Geiranger. It has a breathtaking view as soon as you open the door!
Beautifully constructed cabin
A bit sloppy on small but important details. -For example the bed sheets are the wrong size for the beds. -You need to clean for the next person to come. This rises the question, how do I know that the previous person actually cleaned the dishes for example properly and didn't just rince them with water, or even worse clean them in the toilet for the fun of it?
It is not a cheap place to stay and for this price range, I would expect that when a guest arrives everything would be ready for him.
Lastly, we could not find any sort of heating for the cabin (it could exist, I am not sure because the temperature was pleasant inside, but then again, during our stay there was a very warm weather and we didn't need any heating).
As a conclusion, for me personally I would definitely be coming back to Geiranger, but I have not decided if I would be coming back to stay at this...
