One of the most magnificent sights I have ever seen. You cannot comprehend the massive size of the glacier until you are standing right beneath it. This glacier is still accessible for people who cannot walk much. I brought my parents via troll car which is a fun ride and takes you within 700m of the glacier along flat ground (recommend to make a reservation in advance which you can do by submitting the form on their site with no deposit). Also as a tip if you are coming from Olden, it is super easy to take the public glacier bus from the port which is clean, well managed, takes you on one of the most beautiful bus rides in the world and costs much much less than any shuttle/excursion bus that you can book through a tour company. The public bus leaves from the port at around 10.15 in the morning (just buy tickets on the bus using card which cost around £2 pp), takes you to the glacier and waits there to take you back at around 1.30pm. Highly highly recommend this as a must see if you are in the area!

Kudos to Norwegians to make this natural wonder so accessible! People who are saying that it’s not disabled friendly or hard for an average grownup are not correct. Look at the wonderful, wide and almost asphalt trail. Yes, there are couple of areas, where the elevation is a bit steeper, but nobody forces you to rush, take your time and get some rest. I saw old people with walking sticks managing just fine. And if you are in a wheelchair or not fit enough - just take this nice cart (400 NOK) up. The trail is surrounded by beautiful white water river and roughly in the middle the mighty waterfall can be viewed from several platforms. Once you reach glacier, do yourself a favor and take some time to admire this wonder. The trail might get full, if a bus with tourist comes, but they are usually slow and come in one hoard, so just overtake them :)

This hike to the glacier is very nice. There is an option to use little cars to get closer to the glacier if you want but I would definitely recommend walking there if you can. This is a very popular tourist attraction so there were really a lot of people on the trail when we were there. The path will take you up to the lake at the bottom of the glacier and you will be able to see the ice from a distance. If this is the first glacier you visit I would recommend it otherwise I'd say this will not be the best you'll see. It is also very sad to sign the signs on the path marking how the glacier shrunk throughout the years. Apart from the glacier, the surroundings are fantastics with multiple waterfalls all over the place.

Stunning surroundings. The walk is easy in some places but could be difficult for some in other walking points. Watch out for the end of the waterfall as it can be wet so wear something to protect. I climbed up in basic lace up trainers and they were fine despite the ground being a bit wet, I guess in winter or after severe rain, something more Hardy on foot. Busy with lots of people visiting and I saw all ages climbing up. You can drink the water which you can taste the minerals plus its very cold. Cafe and gift shop at the start or finish once down with toilets. I would happily go again. A great experience for me.
