This park is probably the most unknown and/or under-rated opportunity to see and experience Tromsø, away from the city centre. With so many paths and tracks stretching the top of the hill, we've had two very pleasant and very different walks. Mushrooms everywhere and trees and scrubbs in beautiful autumn colours. A good alternative also for those who do not want to climb up 1200 Sherpa steps or pay for an expensive cable car ticket to go up the (much higher) hill across the water. Read moreI visited this place a couple of different times during my stay in Tromso. Firstly, it is worth the walk there, around and back. The paths there are well marked and easy to follow in a loop.
At the weekend, local families moved some snow, and a free ice skating course emerged. I just wished I had some shoes to have a go, lol.
At night, you can escape some of the city light, to help you see the northern lights. There were a few groups of people huddled around the community fire pits, enjoying the warmth and Night sky.

Tromso parking laws are very confusing. Do some research but note there is no free parking in the city, signs appear to be intentionally misleading or ambiguous.
