We hiked Trolltunga at the beginning of June with warm weather. We followed all the advice to bring warm clothing for the top but it was not necessary at all due to the warm weather. We waited just over an hour at the top to get to take our picture. Our group hikes at a very average pace and we were up and down in 10 hours (having spent an hour and a half at the top). The only part of the hike that I would say was difficult were the 16 switchbacks (almost 4k) of road pavement at the end of the hike. That's just hard on your knees and ankles after such a long walk. Great experience overall! Oh also, it cost 500 Kroner to park in the main parking lot and the parking lot was just about...
Read moreit was an amazing trip, i really enjoyed it and I won´t forget this for the rest of my life. You´ll get a wonderful view and the coolest picture you can get ;) Notes: -there are no toilets on the way! that´s the only problem, because you might need about 9 hours for the whole trip! -start your trip very early to be sure to get a parking spot (cost: round about 50€ for 1 car) -the first mile is the hardest (old start point)! If u did this part, the rest of the trip is way easier and u have nice views. -plan this trip on good weather! If it´s raining, you might hate it :D and it could also be dangerous .....and of course the view and your photos would just be...

I was pleasantly surprised to find a series of switchbacks which meant that the initial climb never got steeper than 1:10. Sure, it blows out the distance to 28km for the return trip, but this trip felt easier (and longer) than Vikanuten. Going up early (well, 7am-ish) meant that the initial 600m was in the shade. A real bonus! Whilst it's fairly busy, the alpine zone is so beautiful that you don't really notice. The Troll's tongue is definitely a landmark...
