A timber slide is a device for moving timber past rapids and waterfalls. Their use in Canada was widespread in the 18th and 19th century timber trade. At this time, cut timber would be floated down rivers in large timber rafts from logging camps to ports such as Montreal and Saint John, New Brunswick.

Great tour! We had a blast coming here from Komoot. The tour is not too long, depending on how far you want to walk, and definitely a unique experience. Even for those who are scared of heights it is doable (with a suitable partner who can hold your hand during the heigher places - 2 bridges especially, only the first feels quite shakey though :)). Absolutely recommend this! Just keep in mind to bring some boots with a sturdy sole if it rains, the wood can get slippery then. I also recommend to look for the ruins of the water works a little off the track, this was an interesting addition.

An overseen place that has a lot more to offer than you might think. You walk in the old lumberslide going along side the strong river and beautiful forest area. The route is about 4 km back and forth and all ages can join in. There are small side paths that take you to other great views. At the farm which is a side path there are tables for eating your lunch and even several fireplaces. There are also shelters for you to camp in. Further down the main path is a side path woth a stone bridge icon - important that you take this since it gives you a spectacular view down a giant water drop.

If you just arrived in Norway this is a perfect opportunity to warm up your hiking skills. It is just a 20-30 minute drive from Kristiansand. With its 8km in total length and 50m in height it is totally beginner friendly. Just make sure to have good footwear as the wooden path can be slippery when wet. Also be careful because there are a few holes in the wood sometimes!

Beautiful attraction for kids and adults. Walking afloat atop the river gives a majestic feeling. There's lots of great nature, water falls, a farm, and ruins along the path. This is perfect for families and paw friends. No tickets required. Just come and walk. There's a big parking spot and a camping place nearby.

I was here in July 2022. Made a video about this place on YouTube LUMBER SLIDE 🇳🇴 NORWAY https://youtu.be/K6fZyPB9xHw .A beautiful scenic spot for outdoor activities is very suitable. I thought it would be more dangerous due to the fact that the base is made of planks. Of course, you have to be careful there!
