Sinkhole, Oman The Bimmah Sinkhole is a very beautiful sinkhole about 200 meters inland from the Gulf of Oman. In this sinkhole, fresh water is mixed with sea water giving it a wonderful color. People can go swimming in this sinkhole of camp by its side. This area is very well sign posted from the highway and can not be missed. The park is situated in the Dabab area of Wilayat Qurayat, Muscat Governorate, and can be reached via the road linking Qurayat to Sur

Qurayat is ranked one of the most beautiful tourism spot in Muscat governorate. Hawiyat Najm Park is classified as one of the main draw for most visitors in Qurayat which is located along the costal side. Hawiyat Najm Park is also called ‘Bimmah Sinkhole”, it literally means ‘Meteor Fall Park’. Since the development and beautification process, it has become a very popular destination for visitors and tourists who head there to see the unique formation.

The site offers a great opportunity for the visitors to practice swimming in the deep water, others prefer to roam around the park and enjoy their picnics and park rides for the kids. Tourism sources have said “the sinkhole occurred naturally due to limestone erosion and the collapse of the rocks forming what you see. Apparently the sinkhole is also connected to the sea through an underground tunnel, which may explain the unique colour of the water”. For many tourists this is an exceptional spot,Yet, there are many places around the Sultanate. The sinkhole is one preferable places to spend the valuable time . However, the park needs to be developed futher. . But one good thing is that it is free of cost.

There is no restaurant, café shop or any small shop where one could buy the necessaries. This site also should have a professional rescue team if any might drown in the waters of the sinkhole. . The toilets are in a very bad situation. This might spoil the tourism reputation of the site”. The official authorities should give this site some priority and put it in the top of the development list. . . Their is parking over this place Make sure you take enough water to be hydrated while on this place. . . Have your umbrellas ready on a sunny day. . No restriction for the mobile phones, camera or video recording. This place is surrounded by a green metal fence. The water in this sinkhole has small fish in thousands. Just immerse your feet for a fish spa were these schools of fish gorge on the dead skin, however its tickling. The rocks on the water is quite slippery, so beware of ur steps in water as their are no life guards and the sign boards says it. Make this trip a splendid instead of a...
