Pavagadh Hills Shaktipeeth - Review Visiting Pavagadh Hills is truly a memorable experience for any spiritual traveler or adventure seeker. The journey combines spirituality, nature, and a touch of thrill with the ropeway ride. The ropeway facility is fairly good and earns a solid 4 out of 5. The cable cars are modern, safe, and offer a scenic ride over lush green forests and rocky hills. However, the waiting area at the ropeway station could be much better organized. During weekends or holidays, queues get long, and there’s hardly any proper waiting zone to relax while standing in line. So, patience is required! Important tip: Even if you take the ropeway, remember, you still have to climb around 500–600 steps to reach the main temple. So, come prepared with comfortable footwear and stay hydrated. But once you reach the top, the views are simply breathtaking. The panoramic sight of the surrounding hills and forests makes the entire climb worth it. And when you finally reach the sanctum for Mataji’s darshan, all your tiredness magically disappears. There’s an unexplainable peace and divine energy at the temple that refreshes you instantly. For food, the temple trust runs an Annakshatra dining hall near the temple, offering satvik Gujarati bhojan for just ₹20 per person. It’s simple, tasty, and feels heavenly after the tiring journey. If you have some extra time, you can visit Dudhiya Lake which is located near the temple. It’s a small, peaceful spot but frankly, it’s just okay compared to the stunning natural beauty you witness on the hills. Additional tips: • Ropeway tickets can be booked both online and offline, but if your plan is fixed, book online. Online booking allows direct access from the parking area, saving time and energy. • Parking charges for a car are ₹100 for the first 6 hours, which is reasonable given the facilities provided. ⸻ Pavagadh Shaktipeeth - A Brief History Pavagadh Hill is one of the 51 major Shaktipeethas across India and holds immense religious significance. According to mythology, it is believed that the right toe of Goddess Sati fell here, making it a sacred pilgrimage site for devotees of the Goddess. The temple atop the hill is known as the Mahakali Mata Temple, and it has been a revered spiritual center for centuries. The ancient architecture, combined with the raw energy of the place, reminds visitors of the temple’s timeless importance. It’s said that many kings and rulers of Gujarat and surrounding regions sought blessings here before major battles or important events. The blend of mythological importance, scenic beauty, and the challenging yet fulfilling journey to reach Mataji makes Pavagadh Shaktipeeth a must-visit destination.

Lots to explore and enjoy. The history is more amazing 💫 Source: Wikipedia The historical city of Champaner, while the hill station of Pavagadh was built upon the volcanic cone itself. With Champaner, Pavagadh hill forms the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is spread over an area of more than 1,329 hectares (3,280 acres). Known for its forts, there are also dozens of heritage structures on the hill. The site is 50 kilometres east of Vadodara and 68 kilometres vsouth of Godhra. As per Jain texts, it is believed as a salvation place of Lav and Kush (son of Ramachandra). In recent history, human settlement occurred around the second century after the hill became associated with the goddess Kali. It is believed that the foot of Parvati fell on this hill, making it sacred.[citation needed] Legend states that the hill's formation is attributed to the sage Vishwamitra Rishi, who lived here in bygone days. He had a cow named Kamadhenu. One day, the cow slipped while grazing and fell into the valley, which resulted in the cow attempting to scramble up the hill. Finally she produced milk, which filled the valley, and swam to higher ground. The Rishi came to know of this mishap, and in order to prevent any such incident in the future, he prayed to the gods to fill the valley. The gods fulfilled his prayers with one fourth of a hill projecting out of the plains, Pavagadh Hill. Known for its forts, there are also dozens of heritage structures on the hill. It is part of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Pavagadh Hill is a craggy hill with a cable ropeway and a circa-10th-century Hindu temple complex at its summit. It is located in the Panchmahal district of Gujarat, India. The hill is about 800 meters high and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The temple complex at the summit of Pavagadh Hill is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kalika. The main temple is believed to have been built in the 10th century and is one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites in Gujarat. The temple complex also includes a number of other temples and shrines, as well as a fort. To reach the summit of Pavagadh Hill, you can either take a cable ropeway or hike up the hill. The cable ropeway ride takes about 10 minutes and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The hike up the hill takes about 2 hours and is quite challenging, but the views from the top are worth it. Once you reach the summit of Pavagadh Hill, you can visit the Kalika temple complex, explore the fort, and enjoy the stunning views. There are also a number of food stalls and shops at the summit where you can buy snacks and drinks. Overall, Pavagadh Hill is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Gujarat. It is a beautiful and historic place with something to offer everyone. Here are some tips for visiting Pavagadh Hill: The best time to visit Pavagadh Hill is during the winter months (October to March) when the weather is pleasant. If you are planning to hike up the hill, be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Bring plenty of water and snacks with you, as there are limited options available at the summit. Be respectful of the religious sentiments of the Hindus who visit Pavagadh Hill. Dress appropriately when visiting the temple complex. I hope this review is helpful.

"Whoever cannot find a temple in his heart, the same can never find his heart in any temple."........ Exploring Gujarat......At the summit of Pavagadh hill, 800 m above sea level, more than 1600 steps is the temple to Mother Kali, which is the oldest in the area, dating from the 10th-11th centuries.... A volcanic eruption occurred in the region approximately 500 million years ago and the etymology of Pavagadh is associated with this eruption: Pav-gadh means "one fourth hill" or "fire-hill".... Faith based legend surrounding Pavagadh formation suggests that the right foot of Sati is believed to have fallen at Pavagadh, thus forming a deep valley and the God later on "sent a large hill as per the request of Rishi Vishwamitra to fill up this deep valley so that the sage's sacred cows do not fall into it." Thus Kalika Mata Temple at Pavagadh is one of the holiest of Shaktipeets in Indian subcontinent." Another story is about two Goddess... Two Sisters sitting on two seperate hills.... At its base is the historical city of Champaner, while the hill station of Pavagadh was built upon the volcanic cone itself. With Champaner, Pavagadh hill forms the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is spread over an area of more than 1,329 hectares. Known for its forts, there are also dozens of heritage structures on the hill. Special thanks to Vinay Gupta and it's Adventure Geek - Explore the Unexplored

It’s was nice experience being here. This was my last leg of gujrat travel, I had made list of 100 places to visit in gujrat state & pavagad was one of them. I was badly tired after travelling from Ahmedabad in morning then visiting champaner in morning followed by pavagad hill (later I visited barodara city to in the evening & returned back to Ahmedabad) But the site is awesome, hills are mesmerising, rile way travel was thrill (however few people go up the hills by foot also, due to time constraints I took the rope way. one week back I had completed my 3600 feet climb on Girnar hills (junagad) so dropped the idea of climbing) The temple at top is of great significance, devotee across the gujrat & outside come here to offers they prayers. When i was entering the temple (you have to go by foot for considerable distance) to reach the deity. The smell of prasad (laddu) being made in deshi ghee made me feel pious. I stayed there for an hour, clicked few photographs (this was my solo trip) & returned back in same ropeway. This was economy trip & used only public transport to travel 350 KM in whole day (Ahmedabad -pavagad- Vadodara - Ahmedabad) From busy stand one have again to take a bus to the hills which is 7-8 KM journey. You can find jeeps also around there but I felt safe in bus only.

Such a historical hill that lives up to its name of “Fire Hill” as it ignites a fire within your skin. Sudden plans to visit the hill were made and we reached Champaner by bus. It was a 45-kilometer long ride from Vadodara but with good music to keep us company, the time went by before any of us noticed. This hill has great significance as most Hindus know the story of how Parvati’s foot fell on this hill making it sacred. The Kalika temple on top of the hill has been visited by devotees since ages. Reaching the temple is no hard task. Public buses take you until the end of the road from where we started hiking up. Midway, when none of us could walk more, we took the cable ropeway which took us straight to the top. The sights from above the hill were just as majestic as the temple itself. We got to know from the locals nearby that every once in a while a fair is held at the temple and thousands of devotees come there. The pilgrim site was, fortunately, less crowded by the time we visited. The temple is open even at odd hours to accommodate people who have come from far for pilgrimage. We saw the temple and had darshan of Goddess Kali. There was also a Muslim shrine to a Sufi saint Sadan Shah Pir there.
