A Captivating Art Haven with Room for Growth - BenCab Museum Review

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have had the pleasure of visiting the BenCab Museum four times already, and each visit has been a unique and enriching experience. This museum has a knack for constantly introducing something new to keep visitors engaged and intrigued.

One notable aspect of the BenCab Museum is its welcoming atmosphere for children. It is refreshing to see a museum that embraces young visitors, fostering an early appreciation for art. However, it would be wonderful if the museum could expand its nature part or garden, creating a space that connects art and nature. This expansion could offer a tranquil environment where families can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings while immersing themselves in the artworks.

In addition to the exhibits, it would be great to see the BenCab Museum explore educational opportunities for kids within its premises. Classes or workshops tailored for young learners would be a valuable addition. This would provide children with hands-on experiences and opportunities to engage with art in a more interactive way, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of various artistic forms.

On the downside, it's important to mention that the café within the museum is quite expensive. While the convenience of having a café on-site is appreciated, the high prices can deter some visitors from fully enjoying the culinary offerings. It would be beneficial if the museum could reevaluate the pricing strategy to make it more accessible to a wider range of visitors.

Overall, the BenCab Museum is a captivating haven for art enthusiasts of all ages. With its ever-changing exhibits and a commendable focus on making art accessible to children, the museum has established itself as a must-visit destination. However, there is still room for growth, such as expanding the nature part or garden and offering educational classes for kids. Addressing the affordability of the café would also contribute to enhancing the overall visitor experience. Despite these minor shortcomings, the BenCab Museum remains a cultural gem that continues to impress with its dedication to showcasing art in...

A Must-Visit for Art Lovers and Nature Enthusiasts! The BenCab Museum in Baguio is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates art, nature, and a tranquil escape from the city bustle.

Nestled amidst lush greenery with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, the museum itself is beautifully designed, blending harmoniously with its natural surroundings. Inside, you'll find an impressive collection of National Artist BenCab's works, showcasing his mastery across various mediums and themes. Beyond his own captivating art, the museum also features diverse exhibits of indigenous Cordillera art, contemporary pieces, and fascinating antique rice gods (bul'ul).

What truly sets BenCab Museum apart is its holistic experience. After immersing yourself in the art, take a leisurely stroll through the lovely garden trail, which winds down to a stream and features a charming organic farm. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy the serene ambiance.

Don't forget to visit the museum shop for unique souvenirs and the cozy Café Sabel for delicious food and coffee with a view. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, adding to the pleasant atmosphere.

Tips: Wear comfortable shoes as there's a bit of walking involved, especially if you explore the garden trail. Allow at least 2-3 hours to fully appreciate the museum and its surroundings. It can get busy, especially on weekends, so consider going on a weekday morning for a more peaceful experience.

Overall, BenCab Museum offers a rich cultural and artistic experience in a breathtaking setting. It's a place that truly inspires and rejuvenates. Highly...

LIKE A HAIKU By: Jeannie E.Javelosa Today, I entered a haiku poem. in three parts: the Beauty of Art expressed. Nature’s Spirit speaking. Palate pleasures pursued. Here visiting an old friend’s museum in Benguet and all at once a package of world class experiences curated by our National Artist BenCab, emerges. Paintings, prints, his collection of bulol rice grainary traditional sculptures, contemporary art of artists he supports are the first come-one; then, an Eco-hike that takes you around the museum (including farm plots where vegetables are grown for the cafe Sabel), and into the wild of the mountain trail. The prize? Spectacular views, waterfalls and clean mountain air. We cap our experience with delicious farm to table slow-food type cuisine (fried itik which is a local duck, watercress salad, creamy risotto like mountain rice, pumpkin-carrot soup and mountain rice suman sa latik) as one looks out into the hill slowly disappearing from view as the fog quietly engulfs it. So quiet this place...as we were the only ones there. Until Ben comes out and a weird reunion of sorts with masks and social distancing mark our place and the unique time we are in. But no matter... for the experience of beauty that he has created in his destination place here in Tuba, Benguet stops all time - past, present and future. A place we always would want to return to. For it is like a timeless masterful haiku poem that fills both spirit and senses. #travelswiththejeannie #supportlocalbusinesses #slowtravel #naturelover...

Dear BENCAB Museum, We really love all the paintings and ambiance. 100/10 We are hoping you consider having low priced souvenirs in your souvenir shop like ref magnet or key chain or post cards that has your paintings and museum logo on it like any other tourist destinations. 🫶 As most travellers collect magnets from places they've been. (Like me🥹) Specially if they have travelled far just to visit your museum. (I'm from Manila) Overheard some of the students talking while we are there last sunday Feb 19,2023, they really wanted to buy some souvenir but most are expensive and some budget friendly ones has nothing to do with the museum. Para naman may maiuwi kaming souvenir na hindi nakakabutas ng bulsa especially the students that will be visiting your museum from now on. Just a friendly suggestion! See you again soon! 🫶 *PAINTINGS 100/10 *CAFE SABEL 8/10 (Very pricey for its little serving, diet mode tayo dito? Haha. Taste just like any other resto. Outside View is amazing!) *ENTRANCE FEE Adult ₱200 Students ₱120 *No Reservation, Walk ins accepted *Cash Payment Only *No outside food or drinks allowed (dapat lang kasi baka madumihan mo pa mga paintings) *NO VIDEO RECORDING, PICTURE TAKING FROM PHONES ARE ALLOWED *CR - 2/10 (old, rusty, small, not clean, smelly) *15-20minute drive from Burnham park (local taxi ₱180-₱200, Grab Taxi ₱250-270)
