Terrible policies, lacks hospitality training, meh attractions and exorbitant food prices, retaurants are barely stocked, the Hobbit House is a bare experience, Larry's Hill seems neglected, Noah's Ark seems to have hit an iceberg, pool is damaged, its like the entire place is approaching bankruptcy (regrettably). At least thats how our stay made us feel.
Pros with "buts": Food is good, BUT prices fail to justify it. Certainly not worth going up the mountain. It averages around 600 to 700 per serve for 2 to 3 pax servings.
The staff (Noah's Ark/Hobbit House area) are friendly BUT the waiters (you feel as if your disturbing their conversations when you arrive, and I personally saw a customer leaving disgruntled) and the front desk don't seem friendly or happy you are there.
The animals and the aviary while limited, was an immersive experience since you simply walk around the animals. BUT the Noah's Ark itself is in disrepair.
Cons: as stated above; Hobbit House is as bare as an army barracks, 3k wont justify it. Only has 2 pillows and an extra pillow is literally the price of a new pillow at 150 pesos each. 1 table and a chair. Bed is comfy though.
Pool is damaged, the kids were picking up tile fragments in the pool.
Larry's Hill ballpit has very few balls left they warn you not to jump on the ball pit since the balls wont cushion your falls. Haha.
Skye cafe had very few items available from their menu, couldn't provide proper change, which was also the case at the reception.
No wifi, No room service. You have to go to the resto to get your food of you stay at Hobbit House.
And the clincher, which sealed my impression and prompting me to make this review: after checkout, I paid the additional charges 850 per night for an 8yo kid, plus the 300 pesos for the extra 2 pillows, 2000 pesos, ok BUT as we were moving out of the parking lot, we were chased by a staff telling me that there were room charges, lo and behold I was charged 120 pesos for allegedly consuming their consumables, 3 bottles of 1 liter water, wasn't bothered by the amount, heck I paid 150 for a PILLOW!
But we did not consume such things, as I said, we went into a bare room. There were 3 complementary 350ml water and hygene kits (which they agree are complementary) which we appreciated. But to be charged for something that was not in the room, made my blood boil. So, gave 500, but it took too long, so I had to walk back up the reception, only to be told there was no change.
And then this uber defensive and somewhat arrogant front desk was now insisting that every time a room is prepared, there is always consumable water on the table aside from the complementary kn the bed. So I countered that we entered a bare room with no so called consumables. In fact we brought our own 6 liter water for 2 nights, told them to check the trash but the tone of the front dest seemed he was irritated, insisted I was in the wrong. WOW, im not the kind of insistent customer but this staff was on another level, no effort to check their room staff or even explain in a logical manner how this problem occured. Afterall, if it was all about the amount, it was just 120 pesos, I already gave the money. But I could not stand being taken advantage of, but instead of compromising or apologizing, he simply dismissed me and gave the money back as if I was bothered by the 120.
I had to explain them that what they did seems like they are taking advantage and milking money out of their guests. I left agitated, angry and a vow never to return, not what a hotel should let their guest leave with.
While my kids certainly made good memories, I will definitely NEVER come back here nor would I recommend this place to any one else unless I hate them so much.
I was planning to stay here for a trail run this 26th, they made me decide NO.
I wish for this attraction to stay open and improve for the benefit of tourists and employees, but they themselves don't seem to want the place...

Read moreAmaya has lot of improvements compared to our last visit almost 5 years ago. Reserving my 5 stars since there are still ongoing renovations in the place. One of notable improvements is the addition of more shaded walkways. You can do strolling even on high noon or raining. Second is the re-developing of the Larry Hills with the addition of much safer playground though there are separate charges on some areas. Third is the renovation of the receiving/drop-off area; it has now roof which make no worries of getting of the car esp when it's raining or on scorching days. Aside from improvements, they have also maintained their remarkable qualities which is the cleanliness of the area and the top-notch serene environment packed with greenery trees and vegetations everywhere. Going there comfortably needs private transportation, though it is still possible to ride public transportation but one needs to do a long stroll from the national highway going to the place. Other things which I recommend might get considered are: Dogs (3-4 dogs) freely roaming around though I'm not sure if they're stray dogs or not, but seems they are harmless and clean. It's just make us a little uncomfortable since we are bringing little kids. Better if they have collars indicating they are resident dogs and regularly vaccinated. Some of the tables in the dining area have its paints already flaking off Addition of electric cars in the fleet (there are some places in the area that need rides on their provided transpo esp if you already tired in walking)
Though this review does not covered entirely all the amenities of Amaya, but based on our past experiences, I can say that this place is a must visit and an ideal place to have...
