The University of San Carlos (USC or colloquially shortened to San Carlos) is a private Catholic research university in Cebu City, Philippines which is administered by the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) missionaries since 1935. It provides basic education (Montessori academy, grade school, junior high school, and senior high school), undergraduate and graduate studies higher education. USC is among the biggest university in Cebu City with 5 campuses which have a combined land area of 90 hectares (Talamban campus has 80 hectares with a wide area for expansion and development of university physical facilities) It is ranked top four nationwide and top one in the Visayas and Mindanao with the most number of centers of excellence (8 COEs) and centers of development (12 CODs) recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as of March 2016. Cons:
-Expensive tuition, but bad service
-Mostly theory rather than practice
-Equipment are being gatekept, usually for display... Or at least it feels that way (unless you specifically ask to use the equipment outside of subject period-- which requires you to play tag with the specific staff/teacher you need to reach)
-Expect to go to YouTube academy, cuz mostly it's about self learning
-Some subjects don't quite align with the course and aren't our forte but they expect high quality
-Portfolio making is 4th year but internship is during the summer after 3rd year..? Why?
-Also, why do we need to pay for library expenses during internship...?
-You'll be a jack of all trades, but a master of none
-Bad communication with teachers. I know they're busy but it's as if they feel entitled to your time. Imagine driving all the way to school which takes an hour but finding out there's no class because they announced so last minute... prepare to be ghosted 90% of the time
