Important: For some reason, the marker for this place is located in the wrong spot, about 805 meters or 0.5 miles off from the most southern-most point of the beach. Please get this marker corrected Google Maps team.
There are two main beaches in Moalboal. Locals calls it basdaku (big sand) and basdiot (little sand), the world knows it as the White Beach and the Panagsama Beach respectively.
The White Beach or "basdaku" of Moalboal, as both its proper and local name suggests, is known for its pristine white sands and the huge area it covers - its a really big beach! Even when there are hundreds of visitors around, it doesn't feel crowded cause you can always find your own spot.
It is known as "white" beach and not "fine white" beach. If you're expecting its sand to be as fine as that of Boracay, Bohol, or even Bantayan, then you are up for a disappointment. Though it may not have the finest of sands, it does offer the most captivating of sunsets.
Tip#1: You can charter a tricycle from the town plaza to get here about P150 for the entire trip (ask the tourism office for update of fare). It would take about 15 to 30 mins ride.
Tip#2: To access the beach, you can drop by at the entrance of HK Resort. There's no entrance fee. Beware of scammers.
Tip#3: Google Maps marker is misplaced. Best to ask the locals...
Read moreFantastic beach - beautiful sand and pristine water. There are some basic amenities here like huts to rent so you can cook food and get out of the sun. It can get very busy and huts are limited so get there early if you need a place to put your stuff and have a picnic lunch. There is a small entry fee to access the beach and it's worth every peso. There is a coral reef very close to the shore which you can spend hours exploring with some basic snorkeling gear. Be mindful of the power of the sun and protect yourself from sunburn! There is a slight current running along the beach so I would walk to the southern end and let the current take me back up the beach. Boats are not allowed to directly access the beach so you don't have to worry about being in the way while you are enjoying the coral and fish. If you find yourself in Moalboal, you have to spend a day at...
Read moreBeautiful water, dirty beach. It is such a shame that the locals doesn't take care of their treasure. They charge P5 entrance fee to enter the city then another P10 fee to enter the beach. Makes you wonder where this money goes. It surely doesn't go with cleaning and maintaining the beach. As you enter the beach, you'll immediately see little souvenirs hats and locals harassing you to buy coconut or have henna tattoos. Group of local men are drinking and fooling around the entrance. Imagine bringing young kids here, I feel so unsafe, how much more with young kids. Garbage, plastics and dog poo everywhere. It is so filthy. You can't have a quiet time on the beach without locals asking you to buy souvenirs every 10 minutes! If their politicians doesn't do anything about the state of this beach, it'll be similar to boracay in...
