Stands 800 feet above sea-level, SANCHEZ PEAK is the highest spot in General Santos City. There are three trails to reach the peak but if you prefer the easiest one, Balakayo Trail is the best option. You don't even need a tour guide to reach the peak.
Sunset and Sunrise are super Instragramable so prepare your camera. As darkness takes over, enjoy the beauty of Gensan's city lights from afar. Definitely you'll gonna love it up there. So better choose an overnight climb.
You may bring your own tent or rent a cottage. You may opt to bring foods but if you have enough budget, try their Native Chicken menus at very reasonable price.
No need reservations. Better climb earlier so that you can choose a perfect spot to build your tent.
If you're want EXTRA ADVENTURE, some would recommend to climb at night time where you can enjoy gensan's city lights while ascending.

Read moreGensan's highest peak, located in the mountain ranges of Barangay Olympog, at the peak you will have a scenic view of Mount Matutum & part of the vast pineapple fields of Polomolok in the west with a nice view of the Kalaja Valley, in the southwest side the Mount Parker mountain range, on a good clearing you can see Mount Apo & Mount Talomo on the north side mostly during early morning when there are less clouds, in the eastern part are the mountain ranges of the Sarangani Province bordering Davao Occidental, And on the south side the city of General Santos and the blue waters of Sarangani Bay. The mountain is ideal for overnight camping, to experience sunrise & sunset scenarios in the peak, and sometimes a foggy scene depending on the season. Trekking the mountain during daytime may be a bit challenging due the fact that most of the trails are an open trail in the cogon grass, minimal trees along trail. The peak has also wide spaces, can handle a volume of campers, there are also open cottages & rooms available for rent. There is also a mini store which sells basic food & commodities, and the tenants can offer cooking meals such as tinolang native chicken and...
Read moreWe did night trek and it was kind of an easy trek. The trail is visible even if we didn't use our torches. The moon was really bright that night. There's a lot of loose soil so better use a walking stick esp. When going down. Surprised to see how crowded the campsite was during weekends.it was also very noisy. The musics are reaĺly loud. So i suggest if you want to do an overnight climb better be early or else you'll end up pitching your tent at the very peak which is not a good idea. Or just do it on weekdays(you'll love spending the night during weekdays). they also have a store, a barbeque and if you dont have a tent there's no problem 'cause they have cottages up there. Ofcourse they have restroom. When the sun is up the view was superb. It was like mt. Batulao's little sister....
