A relaxing lake in San Marcelino, Zambales. Near the foot of Mt. Pinatubo. One can either get there thru the lahar rough road for extra thrill using your 4 x 4 vehicle or any powerful vehicle that can traverse the rough road or one can drive to Barangay Alagao where boats can take you to the camping grounds. Boat fee as of March 1, 2023 is 100 pesos per person round trip. 1 boat can accommodate maximum of 5 pax. Swimming is prohibited in the lake so take out swimming in your activity list. If camping is your game then this is the perfect place. You can cook, eat, drink, bon fire and even jam with friends. Tables and eating huts are available for a fee and a P30 pesos entrance fee per person is collected. Take note there is no electricity, internet and cell signal in the area. You will be completely cut off from the outside world. There is a sari sari store in the ground where you can buy food, drinks, toiletries and fruits. Ice cream is also sold by a motor cycle riding ice cream man. Restrooms are also available for a fee but do not expect too much.

I had the pleasure of visiting Mapanuepe Lake recently on an off-roading adventure and it did not disappoint! The lake itself is stunningly beautiful with crystal clear waters and stunning views all around. The off-road terrain was challenging but manageable - even for a first timer like me. It was an unforgettable experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a unique outdoor adventure! Reminders when visiting: 1. Make sure your vehicle is ready for an off road terrain. You will encounter uneven terrain, uneven slopes, streams and puddles of water. We encountered vans and sedans that got stuck, overheated forcing their way into and out of the lake. For your safety, just visit the place via boat from the other side, but beware, there are so many fees you need to pay. 2. If going off road, make sure you have a good tourist guide. Ours was a good spotter who looked for easier routes and avoiding those with cars who got stuck. Once he got to know our vehicle, he even gave us a challenging route on the way home

The place itself is great! If you enjoy being one with nature, then the place is for you. The views were amazing and worth the drive. The weather cooperated when we were there last weekend (Feb. 18-19, 2023). I enjoyed being completely divorced from socmed for the weekend and enjoyed the fact that there was no electricity. Bring heavy duty powerbanks. 😁 DOWNSIDE: the comfort rooms and showers are so grotty and unsanitary. There are not enough stalls to cater to the campers that need to do #1 and #2 - the line is always long. So if you are thinking of camping there, bring your own porta potty. WILL I GO BACK THERE AGAIN? A BIG FAT NO!!! UNLESS THEY UPGRADE THE SHOWERS AND THE COMFORT ROOMS FROM HELL!!! Sayang na lugar talaga!!!

The place used to be peaceful and calming. Of course, that was 2 years before. Now, it's just plain ordinary - nothing special to see but people camped out everywhere, with their loud speakers while playing typical kalye music day & night. Trash left here and there. In a sense, para siyang naging squatter's area - just like Anawangin Cove. If you're from the city and easily gets impressed, then you may still get some sort of awe if you visit the place for the 1st time. If you are a hardcore serene seeker, nope, i guarantee this is no longer the place for you. 2/5 for the caretakers who cares nothing but to collect entrance fees as soon as you step foot on the area.

Beautiful place! It is indeed the New zealand of Zambales. A quick getaway from all the hustle and bustle in City. A perfect detox from social media and internet (no signal in the place) Bring your own tent, powerbank, flashlight, book, extra shirts and portable gas stoves if you are planning to stay there overnight. You can bring your friends, family and pets. From Manila, it is a 5-6 hour travel it is worth it tho. There are two options to go there. 1. Boat near viewing deck 2. 4x4 truck or any car or van that can withstand the rough terrain of lahar. For us, we choose the latter part. Will definitely go back.

Clean, peaceful, there is a running creek when you walk further from the camp site where you can swim around. There are a lot of water buffalo nearby and they are so friendly. The boat is nice, they have life jackets in case something happens when you ride the boat. The campsite is full of shade because of trees which is nice. There are a lot of locals who are selling souvenirs. There is a paid toilet and shower nearby. There is a store in case you have no food with you. There are a lot of picture perfect spots.
