St. Jerome Parish Church, commonly known as Morong Church, is another gem I had the pleasure of visiting. Among all the churches I’ve been to, this one stands out for its striking baroque façade, which is both grand and artistically detailed. It’s not just a church—it’s a historical monument that commands attention even from afar.

Built by the Franciscans in the early 1600s and completed in 1850, Morong Church is rich in history and character. The façade was constructed using locally sourced adobe and features intricate carvings that blend Eastern and Western influences—a testament to the evolving artistry during the Spanish colonial era. One fun fact: the bell tower was actually added later and is a favorite subject for photography, especially during golden hour.

When we visited, it was a little bit crowded, which only goes to show how active and devoted the local Catholic community is. It seems this place is truly loved by many, both by locals and tourists alike. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving a car, but manageable if you’re on a motorcycle. Despite that, it was worth the stop. The surrounding town is full of kind, welcoming people, adding warmth to the overall experience.

Inside the church, you’ll find a beautifully maintained altar and peaceful ambiance, making it a great place to pause, reflect, and admire both faith and history in one sacred space. Morong Church is not just a destination—it’s a living piece of Philippine heritage that...

St. Jerome Parish Church (also known as Morong Church) is a Roman Catholic church located in Morong, Rizal, Philippines. It was built during the Spanish period in the country, with stones from a hill called Kay Ngaya; lime from the stones of the mountain Kay Maputi; and sand and gravel from Morong River. The town of Morong traces its origins to the pioneering work of the Franciscans Juan de Plasencia and Diego de Oropesa. Both were responsible for starting most of the lake town mission in 1578. They constructed chapels (visitas) attached to a bigger settlement to allow religious and civil administration. Later, this settlement was converted into Pueblo de Morong and was made the provincial capital of the Franciscan Order at that time. Baras, Tanay, Pililla, Cardona, Binangonan and Teresa were the visitas under...

St. Jerome Parish sa Morong, Rizal, is not just a church, it’s a historical treasure, alam niyo 'yun? Itinayo ito noong 1615, and ang design, grabe, Chinese-Baroque Architecture na talaga namang distinct at eye-catching. Pagpasok mo pa lang, may makikita kang two Chinese lion sculptures na super impressive. Ang church na 'to, witness sa dami ng history, like yung mga pock marks sa walls caused by bullet holes from the time ng Katipuneros fighting against the Spaniards. So, hindi lang siya basta place of worship, it’s a reminder din of our rich Filipino history. And guys, it’s not just about the past ha, it’s also a vibrant community ngayon where faith is super strong. Whether you’re there to pray, attend mass, or just admire the architecture, St. Jerome Parish gives you a sense of connection sa ating culture and history.

So, guys, sa loob ng St. Jerome Parish, maraming historical artifacts na talagang magpapa-wow sa inyo. Una na dyan yung first-class relic ni Saint Jerome, yung patron saint ng church. It’s a part of his body, grabe, 'di ba? Binigay 'to sa parish noong 2005, and every Saturday, during the anticipated mass, nilalabas 'to for public veneration. Tapos, may isa pang relic, mas malaki, na regalo naman from the main chaplain ng St. Jerome’s Church sa Rome. Eto, nasa top ng main altar, and every time may mass, kinikiss 'to ng priest. And syempre, hindi mawawala yung mga 14 Stations of the Cross na beautifully done talaga. Plus, yung ceiling ng church, restored na, so makikita mo yung old beams which add to the historical vibe ng place. So, kung bibisita kayo dito, make sure to check out these artifacts, kasi they really tell a lot about the history and faith ng community...

Old but gold, I must say. The exterior shows the design of its era. Inside, you would see old paintings everywhere on the walls. Most of the interior look renovated already. We did an ocular for my aunt and uncle's silver anniversary and I am impressed with the looooooong aisle. It would be really great to see my aunt walking along that aisle. There was a separate room where the stone images are housed. Beside that is the old structure of the church which is barely lit. You can peek into it from the windows outside.
