I will start by admitting that we had a cloudy day for our tour, which is unfortunate, because the vivid colour of the water was less beautiful. It was still an amazing bit of nature, truly, but perhaps we would have been less disappointed overall if we had seen it's full beauty.
Aside from that, I have no other way to sugar coat this absolute farce of a tour. It is terrible.
We left our hotel at 7am, but did not get into the cove until 12 noon. Those 5 hours were spent in 3 different boats, and 2 different waiting areas. Our buttocks were extremely painful from the hard wooden seats and our ears were deaf from the boat engines.
Once in the cove, we did 3 'activities. Jellyfish 'sanctuary' which had very few jelly fish, and the ones that escapes getting blended up by the many propeller boats going in and out, were man handled by the guides... Some sanctuary that is! A single 13ft cliff jump. A medium sized cave you can swim in that supposedly has illuminating waters. It doesn't, and it's fairly underwhelming. All of this was rushed to completion in just over an hour.
Yep, that's right, 5 hours waiting and travel, for 70mins of tour. You really did not get to appreciate Sohoton for what it is at all.
After all that, we went on another couple of boats, to a random building with a rope swing and dive boards, for the hallowed 'Boodle fight' lunch. I can't complain about the food, it was lovely. And the 20 mins we had to jump in the water and use the rope swing after eating was nice too. The best bit of the whole day in truth.
Then we had the journey back... Which was only 2 hours because we didn't have to wait at each stop for an hour.
Overall, NOT worth the money, especially during high season. It isn't a particularly cheap...
Read moreOne of the most worthwhile thing I ever did in my life. I looked for package tours on facebook groups for Siargao tourists - Siargao Business Classified and I found there Kuya Doods Almacen who offers package tours for Sohoton and 3 Islands (Guyam, Daku, Naked, or Secret Island) for only 1,500 pesos or 30 USD for the whole day with free lunch.
I highly encourage everyone that before travelling, research first to know the expected budget for the trip, also for you not to waste time looking for package tours that are often, too expensive offered around GL
Sohoton needs around 2 hours to reach via boat, but im telling youuuu IT IS SOOOOO WORTH IT. ❤❤❤
The tour guides were fun to be with and will always look after you during the tour. It was hightide when we went there, we hid under the boat (literally haha) because our heads might hit the stalactites 😊then after few meters, there is the beautiful Sohoton cove. Theres a part there where the guides will bring you to a hidden cave and will push you to dive for about 8-10 seconds (you'll just hold your breathe and trust the tour guides!) and cliff diving as well.
Jellyfish sanctuary was my most favorite part. We transferred to a smaller boat and only one tourist with one guide ber boat was allowed. about 10 mins. of paddling to reach the beautiful place. I was really in awe. 😍😍😍 Lots of jellyfishes - white blue purple and brown...
