First of all, don’t do this alone. It’s all couples. Second of all, if you are in General Luna and thinking about doing this tour, please be advised that it’s a 1 hour car ride pending there’s no traffic jams and a 2 hour boat ride from your hotel. That was not made clear in the information that was provided to me and I was honestly pretty upset about it. Had I known travel time was so long I would not have gone, not to mention if you have arthritis or anything at all of that nature where you have achy joints, this is not the tour for you. The seating was so uncomfortable, I personally could barely walk at the end of the day. Also, the jellyfish part of the tour (the part I was most excited about) lasted only 10-15 minutes. We spent more time at caves than anything which was also not made clear to me in the booking, I have a serious fear of caves so had I known about this, again I would not have gone. The lunch that is provided caters to people who eat seafood, which I am allergic to. They had a small bit of chicken that was gone by the time it was my turn so I just had fruits and rice. Also, I ended up getting sun poisoning and threw up a bunch when I got back to my hotel due to lack of sun protection, even though it was overcast, still nursing a fever as well, I did have spf on but no cover on the boats means no true protection which has led to a major burn for me even with spf on. I can’t in good conscience recommend this tour. I figure most people will be going for the jellyfish as I did and it was so short lived, it wasn’t even worth all the...
Read moreWe visited the Jellyfish Sanctuary in Siargao this November and found it to be a serene and beautiful spot. The calm waters and the surrounding mangroves created a tranquil environment that made the trip worthwhile. However, as we were visiting in the off-season, there weren’t many jellyfish to see, which was a bit of a letdown but understandable.
What struck us most, though, was the way the interaction with the jellyfish was handled. Our tour guide openly encouraged tourists to touch the jellyfish and even mentioned that holding them for too long could cause them to die. This was disappointing to hear, as it highlights how human activity can directly harm these fascinating creatures.
Touching jellyfish can damage their delicate, jelly-like bodies and remove their protective mucus layer, making them more vulnerable to infections. It’s vital to remember that these animals are part of a fragile ecosystem, and respecting their natural habitat should be a priority.
While the experience had its highlights, we feel there’s an opportunity for better conservation education here. Tour operators should focus on promoting responsible tourism practices to ensure these beautiful creatures and their sanctuary are preserved for future visitors.
If you visit, enjoy the sanctuary’s natural beauty but do your part to protect the wildlife by observing,...

Swim with hundreds of jellyfishes. Dont worry, they wont sting. Just be careful in handling them for their tentacles are very fragile and can disintegrate easily at your slightest force.
