This natural park six-kilometers from the city center can be reached by car in under twenty minutes, by habal-habal and e-trike in just over 20 minutes, and by jeepney (Campaner-Pasonanca-Campaner) that parks near SM Mindpro. It has various places of interest that include a butterfly sanctuary/garden, the Museo de Zamboanga, the Scout Limbaga Boy Scout Camp, a tree house, an aviary, and swimming pools that is sprawled across a wide area. My excitement in reading glowing reviews about it quickly turned to disappointment because the park seemed mismanaged. For a top tourist destination in Zamboanga City, it lacked directional signs or a park map that would provide visitors a point of reference to the various attractions. Given the places of interest are spread a wide area, it would have helped that there were ways to access or link all of the attractions instead of negotiating a public road. The butterfly garden was in disrepair that a rock needed to he wedged against the entrance to keep it closed. It was cluttered with litter and appeared neglected. The museum was in a much better state and houses plenty of artifacts. Several students served as museum guide under the program of the local government that provides them with school allowance. There was a science museum beside it that was under renovation. I had to leave this section of the park to find the aviary, pools, the tree, and the scout camp, via a concrete path that winds through the park. The aviary was closed as well as the moss-covered pool beside it. Further down the road, the bigger pool was empty and also closed. After a few minutes, I finally reached the boy scout camp which was tranquil and pleasant. Nearby was the tree house that was also closed. Almost everything was closed on a weekday! The other reviewer was right to state that there was not much to do at the park. Even if you are a nature lover, it is disheartening to see a place that looked abandoned. A five-peso charge applied to each place of interest. Unless a major overhaul is done on the park, I wouldn't recommend investing time and effort...
Read morePasonanca park as a whole is a place to chill and hang out with friends. At night it can be romantic for couple but i hope that they will add more lights in the area to provide extra protection for female and kids towards naughty adults aside from that since tmsome parts are completely dark .mosquitoes is prevalent in this area which is bad especially since zamboanga has a high volume of dengue cases.
There are some eatery and night bar in the vicinity which is a cool way to let of stress on a weekend.
The place is clean and well manicured. Parking is also ample and there is a place for kids to play.benches is placed well and trees are plenty that provided some shelter during those afternoon sunlight.
This is very popular for families, couples...
Read moreTbh there is nothing much to see here in Pasonanca, but going to this hillside is a good exercise for your legs. The green triangular house is just a small place where you could cover yourself when the climate is too sunny or rainy. When I went there, a lot of students were practicing for school activities. Outside the park was a treetop and many street vendors selling taho (soy bean pudding) and other snacks like hotdogs, fish balls and etc.
You can reach here by jeepney, they can drop you at the entrance or you could walk from the butterfly sanctuary to this area around 20mins.
