Municipal Botanical Garden — Attraction in Gliwice

Visited these gardens on a hot, sunny Sunday at the start of August. What a find. Not natural, of course but with a lovely, almost natural, peaceful feeling. Only a small number of visitors and plenty of space to enjoy the wide variety of trees, flowers and cacti. Good surface to all the paths so suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Plenty of shade and plenty of benches to sit and admire the beauty of nature. Small kiosk serving hot and cold drinks, ice creams and fries. Toilets. Clear signage for almost every plant, telling you what you're looking at. There is obviously good reason to visit several times a year, as the gardens will change with the seasons and, as it's only 2 Zloty per person to enter, there really is nothing to stop you. Worth to visit. The cheapest ticket for entry, just 2zl and seniors only 1zl. The flora is rich and nice. They have everything, rosarium, Japanese garden, herbs. It's a bit like a park with two small water ponds. I have visited this place on the 1st of May. First day open to public. Nice atmosphere for relaxation and to connect with harmoniously nature healing and calming properties. Jak na pierwszą wizytę w tym ogrodzie botanicznym jestem pod wrażeniem i to za jedyne 2 zl. Miejsce duże, zadbane z wieloma ławkami w bocznych alejkach, jak i ustronnych miejscach. Można przyjechać autem, jak również rowerem ( stojaki na rowery w środku przy bramie). Dzieci również nie przejdą obojętnie bo znajdzie się coś dla nich, plac zabaw.

Powierzchnia ogrodu ma 6,3ha. Ogród posiadał cztery części: leśno-edukacyjną, systematyczno-użytkową, krajobrazową oraz gospodarczo-ogrodniczą. W części krajobrazowej znajdował się staw z roślinami wodnymi i nadbrzeżnymi, z którym sąsiadowały bagno i wilgotna łąka oraz alpinarium. Park posiada ok. 5000 okazów drzew i krzewów. założono rozarium z 2500 sztuk róż w 64 odmianach. W szklarniach prezentowanych jest 5000 sztuk roślin z różnych stref klimatycznych całego świata (palmiarnia, kolekcja kaktusów i innych sukulentów z rodzin: wilczomleczowatych, gruboszowatych, agawowych, liliowatych, pryszczyrnicowatych i trojeściowatych).

Kolekcja dendrologiczna obejmuje ok. 260 taksonów drzew i krzewów, m.in. berberys, dereń, irga, krzewuszka, kasztan jadalny, korkowiec amurski, kuningamia chińska, amorfa krzewiasta, kielichowiec wonny, surmia, tulipanowiec, glediczja, cypryśnik błotny i choina kanadyjska. Naprawdę wart przyjść...
