Topola Tekla — Attraction in gmina Gierałtowice

This is the most incredible, amazing and cool tree. It's totally new and unusual attraction. I can say with certainty that I have never seen anything like that before. Fortunately, it has not been destroyed as people said it would be two or three years ago, it was probably fixed. It's probably lit at night, as I've seen something like lightbulbs. I haven't been inside the tree before, but it's definitely worth checking out. There are plenty of spider webs, but that's just part of nature. I'm not expecting the inside of the tree to be perfectly polished.

From the information board: The Canadian poplar (Populus canadensis) is a hybrid resulting from a cross between the native Eurasian black poplar (Populus nigra) and the American poplar (Populus deltoides). The first hybrids currently forming a collection of Canadian poplars originated in France at the beginning of the 18th century.

The Chudowa poplar is the thickest, single-stemmed Canadian poplar in Poland. A measurement taken in May 2013 showed it to be 7.24m in circumference (in the height of 1.3m) and 2.30m in diameter. Our 'Tekla' is the 36th largest tree in Poland, according to the Register of Polish Monumental Trees. The Tekla poplar is 31.50 m tall, according to a measurement taken in May 2013.
