Chojnik Castle — Attraction in Jelenia Góra

A great ruin, actually a very preserved one. The castle looks great and it'll be a small reward for your effort to get there.

On the shields it is written that it'll take you 30 min. to climb. This is very optimistic I think. For an untrained person like me it took more than an hour and a lot of sweating. 😅

As I said, the effort will be rewarded with a stunning view from the top of the castle (the castle tower, which is the highest place).

Note that you have to buy two separate tickets to visit the castle, which appeared a bit shady to me. You have to pay once to climb the hill and when you arrive at the top you have to pay again to...

Ein Ausflug der sich lohnt. Aber, der Aufstieg ist nicht ohne. Egal welche Route. Die rote Tour ist der Wirtschaftsweg nach oben, klassisch gepflastert aber auch teilweise sehr steil. Wäre sicher auch mit buggy etc. befahrbar, würde ich mir aber überlegen. Dann die grüne, zweigt von der roten ab, wow, krass anstrengend aber naturmässig auch sehr schön. Aber wirklich krasser Aufstieg, mir hohen Steintreppen etc. und dann kann man noch die schwarze nehmen, die ist wirklich abenteuerlich mit klettern und allem was dazu gehört. Bei Regen keine schöne Angelegenheit. Ich würde eine Runde über erst rot, grün, Burg und die rote/schwarze runter empfehlen. So hat man alles mitgenommen aber mal eben ein kleiner Ausflug zur Burg ist es nicht. Wanderschuhe sind ein Muss, wie eine passende Ausrüstung mit trinken etc. Die Burg selbst ist toll! Sehr viel erhalten, krass vorzustellen wie alles da oben auf Stein errichtet wurde und lange lange gelebt wurde. Man kann eigentlich alles besuchten, es gibt Infotafeln, zwar auf Polnisch aber die kann man übersetzen. Auch auf den Burgturm zu gehen lohnt sich. Der Ausblick ist toll auf die Gebirskette. Der Turm an sich ist aber echt enge und teilweise dunkle Nummer. Am besten nur kleine Rucksäcke und vor allem keine Kinder auf dem Rücken in Tragen oder Ähnlichem haben. Es war für unter der Woche verhältnismäßig voll, aber es zerläuft sich auch. Weiterhin gibt es ein kleines Restaurant mit guten Preisen und einer guten Auswahl. Zum Geld: Ja, man muss viel bezahlen, wieder für den Park, dann für die Burg und natürlich noch das parken ( das ist auch ein wenig weiter entfernt) und dann auch noch und vor allem nur in bar, auch für die Toiletten. Wenn man das weiß, dass überrascht es einen auch nicht. Es lohnt sich! Gerade auch mit Kids die sowas mit laufen. Mit hoch und runter wandern sowie dem Aufenthalt waren wir gute 4h...

The castle and the view from the top are absolutely amazing and should be 5 stars, however, you have to get to the top and the road is meant to be accessible for wheelchairs and buggies, which is a joke, as I do not believe that anyone would be able to get there pushing a buggy all the way, not with a baby in it. Luckily we were there with small (and still quite light) kids, so were able to carry them while the other people pushed empty buggies, still with much difficulty up the hill on a bumpy and steep road. So just be prepared and don't believe them when they tell you it...
