A great viewpoint but I must say a big secret is viewpoint Paredão nearby is so much better and nobody there! Paredão is similar view but much higher and quiet.
Here is still a good view but a very popular point.
Be warned the road gets a bit narrow near the top, but there are giant coaches and buses that come up here - keep out their way where possible for your own safety! There are passing places so take it very slow and be prepared for buses at any corner. Confident drivers used to country / narrow lanes will be fine, maybe not the best one to drive if you are unsure on steep or narrow roads.
Overall please I seriously recommend Paredão instead or as well as this!

One of the most breathtaking views I've come across on Madeira, and there have been many! But this scored particularly high.
Bring a jacket as a little wind is a lot of wind up here and I appreciated my layers.
Maybe less worth the visit if there's low cloud.
There's a gift shop at the top, as well as a cafe.
Walking to the very highest up platform is well worth it.
It was hard to imagine that I was still on an island!
Amazing

Beautiful lookout and this also makes a great addition to any visit to the Valley of the Nuns. You can take the local bus from Funchal to the town and hike up to the viewpoint and take the bus back to Funchal from there - or do it the other way around if you would rather walk mostly downhill. The trail is not that long, but it is quite steep. The public buses were all VERY punctual during the week we spent in Madeira.

Breathtaking view. Incredible scale of mountains with villages under them. Unbelievable valley. Must see for sure. I recommend to go on sunset, there was just a few people up there and parking totally free. Up there is very steep road but small car can manage it. From parking its like 2 minutes walk to the balcony. Worth to visit!!!
