Ok, it the Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse is a bit far away from anything else on Madeira, but if you have a rental car during your stay, you should definitely consider going there. The positive side effect of "being in the middle of nowhere" is, that tourist crowds are extremely unlikely (I've been there 3 times so far and never ran into tourist groups). The lighthouse itself is "nice to see".....not a spectacular lighthouse, but the surrounding and the view you get from there is stunning. As most people post photos of the lighthouse, I decided to upload a photo from the lighthouse AND a photo of the view you get from up there. If you plan a visit: check the weather and the wind speed! During one of our visit, the wind was so strong that it almost blew me off of the cliff and trust me - you fall deep from up there..... The view from up there is similar to the view you get from the Cabo de Girao except that you feel like you are the only person on earth at the Ponta do Pargo. Overall: Beautiful quite, calm and meditative place that is worth a visit over...
