A nice view and cute shop with handcrafted art up here on Fóia. From there are many hiking routes, I chose one of 15 km. There are many paved paths, so there is no wild or lonely nature. However, every now and then there are also somewhat natural places. The mountain itself is not steep and easy to do. The flora and fauna are very authentic to the area and sometimes you pass springs where the special Montique water. Chose for the hike an not so very hot and not windy day.

As others have suggested anti clockwise seems the way to go. First stretch is quite uneven and rough terrain downhill with bits of muddy path. You will pass the main road for a bit and then back to trail again. Way up is easier and terrain is even. Did it with two kids 10 &13 but we love hiking! Beautiful views all along.

The hike is also called the waterfall hike. The hike isn’t worth it for the waterfalls but it definitely is for the views :)

Very beautiful route. It's high up on the mountain so pick your days wisely! Preferably when there has been no clouds at night so at morning the view is clear.

The route itself is truly beautiful, you can chose which way to start. We chose a way which led to a slow descend, The view which you have while going down is mesmerizing. At some points you can see the Circuit of Portimao, Lagos and Portimao itself. That's how far the view goes when it's clear!

Now the route itself is mostly not very steep, sometimes a little rocky with pebbles and such, but most of the time quite an easy surface to walk upon. There are moments where you do have quite steep paths, but if you take your time it should all be fine. A...
