Museu da Luz — Attraction in Mourão

We red about the story that the people who were living in this little village has to give up everything for the rest of the alentejo. Because off the need of water. It was heartbreaking to see the film about the people telling their story and how sad they were to leave their homes. Very interesting that it was but I still feel the pain of these families They all received a new house but it was different then before and were missing the old situation. The government thought that everyone would be happy having a new house but didn't listen to the people. Especially the builder was in our opinion an heartless men and told them that they could change the house themselves. Sad story and probably the older people already died and younger ones don't want...

Não ir! Uma vergonha sobre museologia, enquanto informação, enquanto experiência, e sob todos os aspectos, saí com a sensação de vergonha alheia. ..Aprendi há muitos anos em urbanismo o conceito de " não lugar". O não lugar é talvez um sítio que possa ser em qualquer sítio, e a Aldeia da Luz não merecia um museu assim, que podia ser uma estação de serviço de uma autoestrada. Não são meia dúzia de alfaias numa sala, mais um acumulado sobre técnicas de taipa, mais dois ou três mapas de reduzidíssima qualidade, e duas maquetes, rodeadas de um lago de plástico azul, que fazem um museu, sobre uma aldeia e o impacto do Alqueva nela. As poucas fotos que há repetem-se dezenas de vezes na parede, e aquilo que devia ser evocado que é o passado, as pessoas, sim porque são as pessoas que fazem os lugares, e o futuro, aparecem apenas vagamente. O melhor do museu, e que se eventualmente forem aconselho a ver, é o documentário. Mas este está no meio de um corredor sem quaisquer condições audiovisuais, com o som baixíssimo, com a luz da janela, um ecrã pequeno e com o barulho dos visitantes. Adianta ainda dizer, que às 17 30, apesar de ainda não ter acabado de ver o documentário, eu e os restantes visitantes fomos informados que tínhamos de sair. Vão á Aldeia da Luz, vão até á Albufeira, mas não percam dois euros num museu que até...

Very nice museum in a modern building, the last one before you enter the Alqueva. Permanent exhibition about the village. Several other during the year. Worth a visit. Closed at lunchtime!

Luz is a typical portugese village. Nothing special except it is a exact replica of the original village now far beneath the water of the Alqueva. Telltale sign: there are no antennas on the roofs as the new village...
