I highly recommend a visit to Amago Wellness Farm! Gena was very helpful throughout the booking process as we discussed options that would fit around our other holiday plans. We visited with our 2 boys who are 7 and 4. Joao was wonderful with them (and us). His love for farming, the animals and the processes shone through on an otherwise very cloudy, rainy day. The weather did not hinder the experience at all, the Farm provided boots for us all and we had our own rain jackets. Our 4 year old even had a little ride in the cab of the tractor to get a break from the rain as we herded the cows from the paddock to barn. Highlights for the boys was learning to milk a cow, I think they could have spent hours doing it. Highlight for Dad was herding the cows and watching Lolita (the wonder dog) at work. Highlight for me was learning more about farming and of course tasting the fresh milk and produce at the end of the day! A wonderful all...
Read moreIt was a delight to visit Gena and Joao’s dairy farm yesterday. Their passion for and dedication toward regenerative farming practices are inspiring, and you can taste it in the milk their cows produce! It was refreshing to get an honest view into the world of being a dairy farmer— with all of its joys and challenges. I appreciated their openness, honesty, and authenticity. These two work so so hard in such an honourable and IMPORTANT way. Their work is important as an example to the rest of the world as we continue to face a climate crisis. The scarcity of regenerative farms and our collective disconnection from nature are some of the reasons why the natural world and our health are suffering. With people like Gena and Joao around, I have hope for a better future ahead. Visiting their farm and learning from these two wonderful, humble souls was such a treat. And we got to milk a cow! I highly recommend this...
Read moreWe are so grateful for this experience that gave us so much in terms of knowledge about what it is like to manage a sustainable farm, in terms of awareness of what is happening to our planet, to nature, to us humans, and in terms of love that Gena and João have for animals, for their job and for all those who visit them. Watching a cow feeding her 2 days old baby was such a heart warming moment and letting another one scratching herself against us was so funny. We brought home the milk that we milked ourselves and realised that the one that is sold in common stores is far from being considered milk... The cows were in the closest pasture so we didn't drive on the tractor unfortunately but this is because we must adapt to the animals' needs and not the other way around. We are happy to support Gena and João's ideas and dreams which will only lead to a better place to live on...
