This winery is a beautiful to visit. The location and historic walls that surround the winery are enjoyable to walk around and get great views of the surrounding area. Upon arrival we received a wine glass and a small sample of a rose. We were directed up to the top of the winery to listen to a presentation. We arrived a few minutes before 5 PM, which was at the end of the previous presentation that was concluding so we waited until our presentation started, which was over 40 minutes after our arrival. We had booked the 5PM wine tasting. The presentation consisted meet me on interesting facts regarding the island I would’ve hoped you had more information about how the wines were made and what made this Winery special. At the conclusion of the presentation, we went down back to a little chapel area, where they had more wines to taste. We tasted one other wine there for a total of three samples. The samples were very small and combined, probably did equal an entire glass of wine. I purchased a bottle of wine and then found out that the tour for my husband and I both cost $7.50 which included one sample and all the other samples you need to purchase separately. All in all the price got very expensive and it was not clarified in advance, which made that a challenge. I wouldn’t discourage someone from going. I would tell you that you need to know before you go and ask her a question before you just start drinking a whole bunch of their small little communion size samples as they each cost 5.00 euros.

Made a reservation for 5PM. Arrived at 5PM and had to wait with a few others for an hour for the "tour" to start. This "tour" consisted of someone explaining stuff about oranges in the Açores, the lava stones and grape vines for about 10-20 mins. About 1/4 of it was actually about wine/the winery. They also ranted about how the mainland Portuguese are "greedy" and that those from Terçeira talk in a weird way and don't work hard. Kinda found that to be disrespectful and inappropriate. Then they had us go back down to the chapel to taste the different wines, which costs 4€ each for an absurdly small sampler. You get 1 free sampler with the "tour", which itself is 7.5€. I did not see this cost mentioned anywhere when booking the reservation, or under the booking email. They do not tell you anything about prices in advance until when you are ready to leave. I'm not sure if they show you anything else about the winery as I had other things to do and they had just wasted 1hr of my time. The whole thing was honestly super underwhelming considering the high reviews. It almost felt like a scam. Their wine is pretty tasty and the estate is quite charming, but I would not recommend the tour at all.

We were so glad we booked a tour online as this vineyard is well worth a visit! David our guide was amazing! He met us at the front door and gave us a brief history of the vineyard before doing a tasting in the ground's chapel, which was a really unique venue. He then showed us around the grounds and let us explore it alone before showing us the production process. David was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We overran our booking but he was really relaxed about it and happy for us to taste more wines after the tour. Can't recommend this place enough, stunning historic buildings, beautiful views and really delicious wines!

We visited this lovely family owned winery while on a recent trip to Sao Miguel and I honestly can not say enough wonderful things about our experience. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is knowledge and friendly, and the wine far exceeded our expectations. The story of the winery is unique, and it is beautiful to see what a family has built with hard work, dedication, and passion. We tried a couple of different red and white wines during our visit, and were particularly fond of the exclusive release Pinot Noir. The wine was honestly so delicious that we ended up bringing some home with us, despite making a pact that we would do no such thing upon first arrival. We had spirited and lovely conversation with the other guests and our wine guide. I can not enough recommend a visit to this vineyard during your next trip...
