Levada dos Cardais — Attraction in São Vicente

The start of the levada can easily be found by following Sabine's directions (below). The walk isn't signposted and was very overgrown - we decided not to do it.

I recommend following the footpaths up the hill to Bica and then following the road at the top back in a long loop to the car park. This took us about an hour and a half. The views are equally spectacular and it's interesting to see the cultivation and houses along the way. There are also two bars/groceries along road.

Man kann einfach parken und dann den Weg (siehe Beschreibung von Sabine), direkt nach oben gehen. Die Levada zweigt wie beschrieben vom Weg ab nach dem verfallenen Haus. Es gibt keine Beschilderung. Man geht meist auf der Levadamauer. Teilweise überwachsen. Man muss dann noch einen Bach überqueren der momentan, April 2025, ziemlich wasserreich ist. Insgesamt nicht wirklich lohnend, wenn man nicht ganz trittsicher ist und nicht gesichert. Ich empfehle stattdessen PR 16, ganz...
