Vinho de Talha Natural | Honrado Vineyards — Attraction in Vidigueira

We had an incredible tour and tasting that was so unique! We learned so much about the process of making Tahla wine in giant clay vessels the way the Romans and people from the region have been doing for thousands of years. Honrado Vineyards is a family owned winery and restaurant that carries on these traditional methods of wine-making. Our guide, Claudia, was so helpful, and we learned so much about the culture of Portugal in the process. Apparently a lot of families in the region still make their own Tahla wine to drink with their family! Also, the wine tasting itself was amazing! We tried four wines and along with a whole snack board including fresh bread and jam from their restaurant next door, which we will definitely visit next time we are in the area! The white wine ended up being one of our favorite whites we’ve tried! We usually prefer red wine, but in this process, they actually leave the stems and seeds in during the aging process so it is full of flavor, but still chillable and refreshing. Went to Honrado vineyard with my wife and a friend. Ruben was an amazing host, who shared his expertise on the Talha winemaking process. The wine was excellent, and the conversation was warm, welcoming, and enjoyable…like friends reconvening over a glass of memories in and idyllic winery warehouse. Beautiful rustic space with great history uncovered and the attached restaurant is a staple for regional cuisine. I want to thank Honrado vineyard for making our visit truly special. We booked online and upon our arrival we were told the English wine tour guide was not coming and that they would do their best with the tour otherwise. I can say she did an amazing job and we had a great experience. She did everything she could to make this a great experience for us. The building is beautiful and lovely to be in the environment.
