The restaurant is located in a central location in a very small village called "Vila de Frades". There they make "vinho de talha", very nice. I highly recommend for people who enjoy wine. They also have a small museum how the wine is made. When we entered the restaurant was already fully reserved, the waiter was so sweet that she proposed to us to eat on the terrace, we were the only table outside. The weather was perfect to have dinner outside and we could enjoy the beautiful view of the full moon rising. The food was delicious and very hommy tasty The waiters were very friendly and very welcoming, with exception of the owner he was not really interested on people that he didn't know. He came to serve us, asked what we wanted to drink and forgot about us, when my husband went to ask for the drinks he acted like we were not waiting for anything. He was in a very bad mood. Thankfully the waiter took over and everything went exceptionally well. The owner should be thankful for having such a nice staff because if he doesn't for sure he would not have such a full house.

The food had a good taste but 2 of the dishes were too salty, especially the omelett with wild mushrooms. I got very thirsty after some bites. Too bad, ruin the taste a little bit - saved by the wild mushrooms who was the star in this dish. A little bit expensive may I say, almost €20 for at small plate. The pork was mostly fat in the dish with fried potatoes.Even though it had a good taste, I couldnt eat more than 3-4 pieces. The red wine was very good, maybe a little bit expensive but fair enough - we cant get it in the store and we liked it. The service was for me the best, they were attended but maybe little bit slow from what Im use to here in Portugal. The owner let us in the winecellar/brewery to look around by ourself. It was great to experience it.

Viemos aqui parar quase por acaso, mas meus amigos, que experiência incrível. Abrimos com um paio de porco preto e um queijo fresco de cabra, seguindo um feijão com cardos e carne, passando depois a umas migas de espargos e carne de alguidar "regados" com um vinho da talha excepcional, acabendo nós com um bolo de amendoa e gila divinal. e o que dizer disto meus amigos? Simples, tivemos que voltar a fazer mais 40Kms desde o sítio onde ficamos alojados para repetir a experiência no dia seguinte. Desta vez pedimos umas cilarcas com ovos, um cozido de grão com mais uma garrafa de vinho da talha, desta vez branco para provar o mesmo, e terminamos com uma sericaia com ameixa simplesmente deliciosa, e desta vez com um grande pormenor, tinhamos como companhia um grupo de cante alentejano que durante o jantar nos ia presenteando com catares proprios da região. Passando ao anfitrião e a sua equipa, o Sr. António entra no grupo das pessoas que eu até hoje tive mais prazer de conhecer, de uma simpatia, simplicidade, atenção e de uma facilidade de diálogo incrivel, e o resto do staf, umas senhoras super simpáticas e bem dispostas, que empregavam tanto no serviço á mesa como no serviço da cozinha uma alegria contagiante, de tal forma que me vi "obrigado" a ir á cozinha parabenizar e felicitar todo o amor que dedicam ao seu trabalho. Obrigado Sr. Atónio por transformar esta experiência numa muito agradável surpresa.

The food was tasty and the ambience is authentically rustic. The food portions aren’t big, the meat cuts we got were very bony and fat, looks ok on the serving plate but then little meat, maybe bad luck but many others complain of similar. the service was slow in the peak time and doesn’t look like they are keen to make it effective tending to a couple tables before heading out of the room, makes them have to run back and forth more times, only tending one request at a time, you notice other clients annoyed of long waiting too. so go with plenty of time to spend. overall it was a...
