Booked a slot to take a look at the rock art and it was truly an experience. The guide was always ready to answer any questions and was truly passionate about explaining the rock art that we saw. There were only a few of us in the group so there was no rush at all and we took our time learning about the rock art. I spent some time at the museum too, and while it was quite sparse and I think I was there when it was undergoing some exhibition renovations, I did enjoy myself wandering around and listening to the audio guide. It's a small museum, so you'll probably be able to spend about 2 hours there. Do spend some time going up to the rooftop though - there's amazing views there too.

The museum itself is amazing and we were really surprised there is such a place in Portugal but... only one of the personal at the info desk spoke English, the beautiful tours outside museum are difficult to arrive to (20minutes ride with a taxi driver who does not speak English and you have to pray for him to appear on time and bring you to the meeting point). The museum is so thrilling architecturally but there is not much use out of it. Lack of promotion and logistics of operation. Still can’t believe that we got to see Paleolithic rock art on UNESCO site and there were only 4 other visitors with us.

The museum is an architectural wonder. We had an excellent guide who highlighted the sophistication of the artistic expression in the etchings in the valley The tiny drawings etched into stone, with magnifying lenses and lights to let you really seen them were amazing, but would have been easy to overlook. The subject matter may not be for everyone, but the building is spectacular as are the views from the courtyard connected to a quite good cafe and bar for those who would rather take in the scenery.

Impressive and unique! Extraordinary architecture that fits perfectly into the landscape! If you have a chance, go for a guided tour to the valley, don‘t miss, but check on times with good light conditions, so it is easier to see the „paintings“ Thanks again to the wonderful staff that supported us so well! The restaurant is worth a visit - the view on the Douro and Coã is breathtaking! Perfect for a sundowner 😁 #letsguide

We didn't visit the museum but took the guided tour of the Rock Art. Wow!!! The guided tour was very informative. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and spoke excellent English. The Rock Art is amazing to see. We went with our two boys sons who learnt a great deal (as did we) from this very informative tour. Highly recommend. Not suitable for people with mobility issues due to terrain.

The place is amazing, I would recommend Penascosa over Canada do Inferno, there is more to see, but both are amazing and worth a visit, they are very different nature wise. The history is so fascinating and our guide Marco was very helpful and gave a lot of amazing information. The area is also amazing, highly recommend to pass by there. Thank you Marco and keep on with the amazing job!
