I recently had the pleasure of visiting Alkhor Zoo park with my family, and it turned out to be an ideal spot for a weekend getaway. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the advantages, must-consider tips, and an exciting additional highlight:

Advantages:

Perfect Weekend Retreat: This location is a must-visit for families seeking a delightful weekend outing. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Birds Park Delight: Don't miss out on the enchanting Birds Park within the premises. It adds an extra layer of beauty and wonder to the overall experience.

Tea and Snack Haven: Numerous shops are scattered throughout the area, ensuring you're never far from a cozy spot to grab some tea and snacks. It's a convenient and welcome feature for families with hungry little ones.

Well-Maintained Facilities: The park is equipped with ample toilets and water stations, making it convenient for families, especially those with young children. Clean and well-maintained facilities enhance the overall experience.

Efficient Security Services: The security team goes above and beyond by offering assistance with heavy belongings through battery cars. It's a thoughtful touch that ensures a hassle-free experience for families.

Kid-Friendly Play Zones: The play zones inside the park are a hit with kids. The variety of activities cater to different age groups, keeping the little ones entertained and engaged.

Panda Paradise - Additional Highlight:

If you find yourself with some extra time, don't miss the chance to visit the famous Panda House close to this area. This attraction showcases two lovable pandas living in a spacious custom-built panda house. It's a unique opportunity to witness these charming creatures up close, and the experience is truly unforgettable.

Close Encounter with Pandas: The Panda House offers a rare and close encounter with two adorable pandas. It's a delightful experience for both children and adults, and you'll be captivated by their playful antics.

Custom-Built Habitat: The pandas reside in a spacious and well-designed habitat that closely mimics their natural environment. The attention to detail in creating a comfortable home for them is evident.

No Need to Travel to China: The best part is that you don't need to travel all the way to China to see pandas. This brings a unique experience to your doorstep, making it a must-see attraction for animal lovers.

Must-Consider Tips:

Early Arrival Is Key: To make the most of your visit, plan to arrive by 11:00 AM. This ensures you can secure a spot under the trees, providing shade during the afternoon sun.

Strategic Parking: Park your car near the entrance or opt for a spot close to the nearest exit gate. This strategic move makes for a quicker and more straightforward exit, especially if you have tired children.

Proximity to Facilities: When choosing a spot, aim to be near the toilets and washrooms. This ensures easy access when needed, particularly crucial for families with young children.

In conclusion, This location is a perect spot for family-friendly outing. The thoughtful amenities, coupled with strategic planning, make it an ideal destination for a memorable day with your loved ones. The Panda House adds an extra layer of charm, turning the visit into a unique and unforgettable experience. We can't wait to visit...

I had heard a lot about Al Khor Family Park and Zoo from friends and the internet, so I finally planned a visit with my family. At first impression, I found it a bit overrated. The park is located in Al Khor, about a 40-minute drive from Doha. To access the zoo, you need to buy tickets (15 QAR for adults and 10 QAR for children), which we initially missed, so we had to download the app and make a booking. This took about 30 minutes, as the app and website were slow and often unresponsive.

Once inside, we headed straight to the bird area, where we saw peacocks, flamingos, ducks, and other birds that didn’t look very healthy or happy. The netting above was torn in places, allowing smaller birds like sparrows and pigeons to enter freely. We then visited the parrot and macaw enclosures, where the birds were also in small cages and appeared unhappy. While I know that birds in captivity may not thrive, I couldn’t help but compare this experience to the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, which offers a far more engaging experience with thousands of birds in a spacious, natural habitat.

Moving on, we saw giraffes, deer, and zebras, who were being fed junk food by visitors—chips, soda, buns, and some vegetables. Next, we went to the big cat area, where the enclosures were small and poorly maintained, with a strong odor that made it difficult to stay in the area for more than a few minutes. The lions, Bengal tigers, white tigers (from India or Northern Asia), jaguars, and cheetahs (from Africa) didn’t seem well-kept and looked unhealthy.

Finally, we visited the children’s play area, but the smell from the big cat enclosures was noticeable even there, making it hard to enjoy the space for long. While the park and playground itself were nice, I personally find Al Bidda Park a much better alternative in Doha.

Overall, my experience was disappointing, though I understand that everyone has different opinions and expectations. I’d still suggest visiting once to see it for yourself and form your own...

The park is around 40 km from the city center, it's a decent drive to the place. There is ample parking space.

There are no ticket counters and you can only buy tickets online, there was a technical issue while booking and i had to book twice and paid double and the amount was never refunded back. It is advised to book in advance so you are not stuck at the gate. Also if you plan to visit the panda house it is highly recommended to book in advance as the number of tickets for panda house are limited and you may not get the ticket on the spot. The park ims nice and green with alot of place for families to sit and have some nice time.

There are alot of animals including the big cats like the lion and tiger but the space for the caged animals is really cramped, it might be that due to the heat during summer it may not be possible to keep a large area cold but I am sure there are ways where this can be managed either through bigger closed glass chambers or through some other solution but seeing such majestic animals cramped in a tiny space does not feel good. The other parts of the park are nice and they have animal feeding activity too and it's fun for the kids especially the giraffes. The reptile section is also nice. The variety of birds is also good. There are limited eating options available. All up its a decent family outing option but they need to find a better option to accommodate the caged animals. Bundle the place with the panda house and book the...

We visited Al Khor Park last Friday and had a wonderful time with family. The park offers a lot of parking spaces, which made it convenient for us to find a spot right away. There is an entrance fee of QAR 15 for adults and QAR 10 for children. I highly recommend booking your tickets in advance through the Aoun app to avoid long queues or any hassle at the entrance. The park is spacious and well-maintained, with a variety of animals to see. One of the highlights was being able to feed some of the animals, which the kids especially enjoyed. Although the lion was not available during our visit, there were still plenty of other animals to see, making it a fun and educational experience for children. In addition to the zoo area, there are several food stalls scattered around the park, offering snacks and refreshments. There is also a playground where kids can run around and enjoy themselves after walking through the animal enclosures. Overall, Al Khor Park is a great spot for a weekend outing with family or friends. It’s clean, affordable, and offers plenty of activities for both adults and kids to enjoy. We’ll definitely visit again!
