The 1500 meter cave has about 800 meters to explore casually. The cave leads into a maze of different sections with many levels that you climb and descend on steep steps. Many of the passage way are well lit but there also dark area that you would need a light to explore. The path inside can be low as 40" so be prepared to pass along accordingly. Helmets are recommended which you can rent at the entry post. There is a small stream running through the cave that flows out and cascades down into the nearby river- Crisului Repede. The best route to the cave is a 20 minute hike on a trail from the nearby village of Vadu Crisuluis. The scenic path to reach the cave is marked by red dots that helps guide you. The area does have some man-made issues with lots of broken glass littering in the surrounding path near the cave. Otherwise, the natural beauty of the cave and area...

The cave is an easy 30 minute hike from the bridge where we left our car (no parking fee). The terrain can be slippery during wet periods, therefore it is fitted with chains along the route. Tickets are bought at the shack lying close to the entrance. After a short wait for the guide to come out with the previous group, we were taken inside. There is no need for special gear. Waterproof shoes are useful, but not mandatory. We were fine without boots. We saw a couple of bats hanging from the ceiling or flying about. Plenty of explanations and the guide is open to questions as well. The stairs in the picture lead to the site where the bones of a cave bear were discovered (area is off limits to the...

Very beautiful cave, with interesting formations. The tour guide, Ms Doina, is a walking encyclopedia, and fascinating story teller. She walked us through the history of the cave, interesting facts about the surrounding,😉 and also connected to the present time. The downside is the road leading to the cave, with poor signaling, administered by county authorities. Also you should have cash on you, local currency, since paying by card is not an option.🤨 Entrance is done at every hour with a minimal 10 person group. One of the most impressive caves, worth the trip.
