Caraiman Monastery — Attraction in Bușteni

During my visit last October there was a very rude man dressed in black robes at this location. I think he was a priest there. This man stopped me right before I could leave and started interrogating me about whether or not "it's ok" but he never specified what that was. The only thing I could think of is, whether or not taking pictures is ok, but I saw no signs that said people weren't allowed to take pictures (at least none in English) and on top of that, there were people openly taking pictures throughout the area. So of course i took a couple photos. But if this is what the problem was, why didn't this man just come out and say it directly? Why did he beat around the bush and not even say exactly what I did wrong if I did something wrong? I realize now, he was trying to intimidate me and the way he spoke to me was very disrespectful and rude. Especially at the end of the conversation when I said, "everything is ok" because I didn't know what exactly he meant (since he never specified) I thought he meant if my visit was ok. But then he put his hand on my head and said 'ok, god bless you' but it wasn't even in a sincere way. More like a sarcastic and degrading way. I felt so offended and when I turned to leave I could've sworn I heard him mutter under his breath, "watch yourself." Like wow, how rude of a man who is religious to treat a girl in this way. It was unbelievable and because of this, it ruined the whole Monastery experience for me. DO NOT COME HERE. Dealing with these 'priests' is not worth the stress and...

Povestea construirii mănăstirii de călugări este una cu har, în care părintele care a înălţat-o mărturiseşte cum a visat să ridice în aceste locuri, o mănăstire din curtea căreia să se poată vedea crucea de pe masivul Caraiman. Povestea preotului Gherontie Puiu, cel căruia Mănăstirea Caraiman îi datorează existenţa, este în esență pe cât de tulburătoare, pe atât de adevărată. Grav bolnav fiind, paralizat după un accident vascular cerebral, domniei sale i se arătată în vis Maica Domnului, care făcând o minune înzdrăvenindu-l, îi va permite astfel împlinirea unei sfinte misiuni de înălţare a unei „porţi” către Cer, pentru că nicăieri rugăciunea nu îşi are mai mare forţă ca în casa lui Dumnezeu. De altfel, cutremurătoarea poveste a părintelui începe încă de la naşterea sa, când “biata măicuţa mea – Dumnezeu s-o hodinească în sânurile lui Avram! – a murit în vreme ce se chinuia să mă aducă pe lume. Şi eu am fost crezut mort de doctori, ca şi mama… Moaşele m-au pus într-un lighean şi m-au aruncat pe malul gârlei, printre gunoaie, înfăşurat pe jumătate în pieliţa ceea trasă din măruntaiele mamei. Peste puţină vreme, s-a nimerit să treacă pe acolo o ţărancă. Nu s-a dus prin altă parte, ci a îndrumat-o Duhul Sfânt să apuce chiar pe lângă gârlă, prin gunoie! M-a auzit plângând, m-a luat în braţe şi m-a dus la căruţă. Dacă nu mă afla ea, mai aveam puţin şi furnicile mi-ar fi mâncat ochii, aş fi ajuns hrana la şobolani… Atunci mi-a murit moartea cea dintâia oară!” Nu sunt vorbe deșarte când afirm că odată cu apropierea de mânăstire te va cuprinde o oază de linişte, in care energia brazilor veşnic verzi se contopeşte cu energia divină, din care totul izvorăşte, până la urmă. Curtea, una realmente deosebită, găzduiește o mini cascadă ce porneşte dinspre agheazmatarul care îmbrăţişează bradul retezat de furtună, unde se spune că s-a descoperit chipul Maicii Domnului, astăzi plin de icoane. Un alt adevăr al locului este că acelora ce vin aici și înalță rugăciuni adresate Maicii Domnului, izvorâte dintr-o sinceră și nestrămutată credinţă, li se împlinesc.
