Nice fast route up to the mountains but it's pretty expensive. 170 lei return for the cable car and you also need to pay 10 lei for a ticket to enter the national park, the later being valid for 3 months. 90 lei for one way, half price for under 12s. You can also take a bike but I'm not sure how much that costs. Card payment is available for the ticket but that national park ticket is cash only. Pleased it's still open in mid-October and a few people around but no queue. Runs every 30 minutes on the hour and half past at a minimum, with extra runs if it's busy. Be aware that the last descent is at 1545. Last ascent 1500. Also be aware of scammers on the road up to the cable car, saw several trying to sell even more expensive tickets and overpriced lifts. Buy tickets from the ticket office at the cable car (it's up the stairs).

The cable car is always busy with very long queues. It costs 80RON rtn. An advice for anyone trying alternative routes, something we've done on the day. There are 4×4 drivers who would offer you a drive close by and with an extra 45minutes walk you can be there avoiding the queue. When you reach the top there is an option to take the cable car on the way back. Combined cost in the range of 100RON for the whole trip. We didn't do this. Instead we drove to "Piatra arsà" for 1h20 and park the car there . The road is excellent for driving. From there we walked to Babele for approx. 1h . Can be done quicker without kids. From Babele and Sfinx you have another hour walk to Crucea Eroilor for best views.

Beside being the fastest way to travel from Busteni to Babele/Sfinx, it is also the most expensive. The Cable car has two ways. The first one is from Buesteni to Babele and Sfinx and it costs 140 ron both ways. The second one is taking you from Babele/Sfinx to another destination which was kinda unknown for everybody and as I heard from people, it costs another 120 ron both ways. Together, the whole trip costs 260 ron per person. The Cable car could fit only 12 people when we were in Busteni but that might have changed already. The waiting time is quite high asthere is a big waiting line everyday. A single way takes from 13 to 30 minutes depending on the weather.

It's expensive (170 lei) but the view is marvelous. You can see the waterfall, the snowy peaks of the montains, the city from the above, the firest... It takes about 10 min in a closed vagonette (no place to seat, you need to stand) to get from one stop to another. On the top of the mountain you can alzo visit Sphinx, ~10 min from the stop. But be aware of the dogs, I'm not sure they are on the leash. So, the barking and slippery shoes prevented me from seeing Sphinx. You can pay by card but the sales lady doesn't speak English. Luckiky, you can explain 1 ticket there and back in signs). The schedule is the same as on the website.

It costs 40 eur (200 ron) per person for a round trip of ~10-15 minutes . This is outrageous and more expensive than in luxury locations in Switzerland or Italy. It just shows that greed has no limits. The cable car is old from 1974 when it was built by Italians and much of the equipment is from that era. Wondering what they invest the money in. The staff running the cable car speaks rudimentary English and prefers to stay on their mobile phones, ignoring the tourists or offering any added value diligence. Avoid at all cost and spend that money on something else

Pathetic and miserable service! How come no one notices the "smart entrepreneurs" selling their private services of car transportation up to the top inside the perimeter of the cable car premises?! What is the plan to promote the local area and create services to make it a tourist destination worth visiting for people with children, with disabilities and seniors? 4 hours waiting queue before opening time is just a Romanian bad joke with a quite nippy price. #telefericprahova 'Impreuna creăm experiente'...cu bișnițarii locali?
