So nice and cosy inside. A little oasis of environment, nature and animals. The ground floor hosts a small aquarium area, the first floor an exhibition of once ferry boats in Romania. I feel nostalgic about it since nowadays it's outrageous not to find one in the area of Galati, so please, municipalitity, do something about it. Tourists want to explore Danube by boat. Launch a ferry line with a daily or weekend tickets for people like all the European towns on rivers or sea have it. I live in Trieste on the Adriatic Sea, in the north east of Italy. We have daily regular lines here for residents and summer lines for tourists. Still on the first floor, you can enjoy the Romanian fauna and flora with a recreation in classical pictures and scenes and also digital puzzle for kids and large touch screens where you explore animal sounds. So funny for children. Third floor and Planetarium. With a group of minimum 5 people you can watch one of the stellar shows projected on the ceiling. Nice and interesting. I would suggest to have an English version for visitors, just in case. There is a souvenir shop at the entrance. And outside a butterfly exhibition starting from May. It seems a successful project financed by Phare for border countries,...
Read moreBeautiful gardens with lots of both exotic and local types of plants, trees and flowers. It also hosts the planetarium, which can be considered the best museum in the whole city, thus making this place a great location to visit for both relaxing and visiting. One of the main problems is that it has only one entrance that acts as exit as well, so if you walk to the end you must go back if you want to leave. Also, it seems that funds never have the chance to get into the renovation budget. Everything is and feels old, outdated or somewhat a fragment of the old communist city of Galati. Walking around, you know where you are, even with all the flowers and trees. Pavement is old, some alleys dissappeared. The staff can be really disrespectful some times, although most of the times I've encountered really cool people, whether they were guards or guides. Not sure if they are guides. Any guide at all. But there are nice people working there that would gladly tell you a thing or two. Overall it is a nice place to visit. Keep in mind that it has a entering tax, which some may find too expensive for what it is. Personally, i don't think it's too much, but due to it I wouldn't necessarily...
Read moreIt's no Cosmocaixa but it could be. The outdoor part could use a revamp as the signaling of plants is lacklustre, the alleyways have no discernable directioning purpose, but the rosarium is splendid when all the roses are in bloom. The Japanese garden is a bit underwhelming and the upkeep is not ideal. The live fish exhibit is lovely, There are several permanent displays and a few temporary ones. The greenhouse is undergoing a massive reboot and, hopefully, it will bring in the crowds. All and all it could be way better, hopefully the people in charge will visit other natural science museums and will take a clue or...
